From displaying only over 2,000 artifacts, the Museum has now preserved and introduced over 40,000 documents, artifacts and films, vividly reflecting the consequences of war as well as the Vietnamese people's desire for peace .
Over the past years, the War Remnants Museum has had the honor of welcoming more than 25 million visitors. The unit is also a member of the Vietnam Museum system, the Museums for World Peace (INMP) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
Mr. Lam Ngo Hoang Anh, Deputy Director in charge of management and operation of the War Remnants Museum, said that on the 50-year journey, the Museum has carried out a historic mission, which is to transform the painful memory legacy of war into a space for dialogue for the aspiration for peace. That journey also shows everyone a truth: "Peace has never been a ready-made gift but is the result of indomitable will and countless sacrifices".

According to Mr. Lam Ngo Hoang Anh, the Museum is entering a new phase of development with the strategic vision of “Museum for Peace”. To realize this vision, the unit focuses on two strategic directions: Promoting international cooperation to bring the story of reconciliation to new heights and proactively transforming digitally to bring heritage closer to the global public. From the evidence of the past, the Museum is committed to continuing its sacred mission, keeping the flame of memory alive and vowing to be a messenger on the journey to spread the message of peace.
On this occasion, the War Remnants Museum in collaboration with the University of Sydney Vietnam, the University of Culture and the University of Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City organized the opening of the exhibition "Southern Cuisine during the Resistance War" to introduce to the public culinary stories associated with the daily life of the army and people of the South during the resistance years. At the exhibition space, visitors can explore the culinary map of the regions; scan QR codes to learn the recipes of rustic dishes such as rice balls, banh it, and fish sauce...

“This exhibition will contribute to the common mission of museums in Vietnam, not only as places to preserve the past, but also as spaces for healing, integration, and creativity; as beacons of peace and culture for the future,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Jane Gavan.
At the War Remnants Museum (No. 28 Vo Van Tan Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the exhibition "Southern Cuisine during the Resistance War" will take place until the end of December 2025.
