Ensuring progress and quality.
In early October, at the construction site of Provincial Road 296, specifically the section from Km2+400 to Km9+300 passing through Hop Thinh commune, more than 100 workers from Truong Hanh Joint Stock Company and Hai Long Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company were busy leveling and compacting the road surface, reinforcing the road shoulders, building bridges along the route, and repairing the drainage system. The sounds of bulldozers and rollers, interspersed with the rhythmic tapping of shovels and picks, created a bustling atmosphere of urgent work. Along the route, many sections of the road surface were repaired to a smooth finish, ensuring safety for vehicles.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, the site manager, shared: “With favorable weather conditions, the contractor has mobilized maximum manpower and machinery to accelerate the construction progress of the various components. Workers not only work on weekdays but also on holidays, and at many times even work through the night to meet the deadline. The goal is to ensure quality while not disrupting traffic for the people.”
Reportedly, the project commenced in June of this year, with a total investment of nearly 106 billion VND from the provincial budget. To date, the project has reached nearly 30% completion. The contractor aims to complete all items by December of this year, approximately one month ahead of schedule.
At the same time, on the roadbed and surface repair site of Provincial Road 295, section from Km30 - Km31 passing through Ngoc Thien commune, many trucks carrying materials lined up; workers were busy removing the deteriorated road surface, leveling, and compacting the road. This is an important road connecting residential areas to Hoa Phu Industrial Park. Regular road maintenance helps to address the deterioration after a long period of use, especially after heavy rains.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Head of Infrastructure Management Department (Department of Construction), said: “Maintenance and repair work is regularly directed by the Department, with annual plans, prioritizing routes with high traffic density and connecting production areas and industrial zones. The province allocates sufficient capital, clearly assigns responsibilities to the management unit, and strengthens on-site inspections to ensure progress and quality.”
Besides the two projects mentioned above, a series of other projects are being accelerated, such as: repairing the roadbed and surface of provincial road 299 from Km20+870 to Km21+250 and repairing Ben Dam bridge in Tan Tien ward; repairing and ensuring traffic safety on provincial roads... In addition, many projects are preparing to start construction: repairing provincial road 281 from Km5+500 to Km9+200 and from Km11+300 to Km11+800 in Luong Tai commune and Thuan Thanh ward; repairing provincial road 276 from Km0+00 to Km1+450 and from Km7+300 to Km8+00 in Tien Du commune; Repairing provincial road 281, sections from Km5+500 - Km9+200 and from Km11+300 - Km11+800 in Luong Tai commune and Thuan Thanh ward…
Innovate and strengthen management and supervision.
According to the Department of Construction, after a long period of operation, many provincial roads are beginning to show localized damage. Therefore, regular maintenance is crucial, not only to extend the lifespan of the infrastructure but also to ensure traffic safety and reduce major repair costs later on.
This year, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated nearly 300 billion VND for the maintenance and repair of nearly 40 provincial roads. Each road has undergone a thorough review of its current condition, identifying necessary repairs: repairing the roadbed and surface, patching potholes, painting road markings, adding traffic safety signs, building bridges, clearing drainage ditches, etc. To date, 10 projects have been completed and put into use, facilitating convenient traffic flow for the people. Examples include: repairing the roadbed, surface, and structures on Provincial Road 297 from Km3 to Km8 in Duong Huu commune; repairing the roadbed, surface, and structures on Provincial Road 295 from Km14 to Km17 in Lang Giang commune; and repairing the roadbed, surface, and structures on Provincial Road 242 in Dong Ky and Bo Ha communes.
To ensure the quality of construction projects, before commencement, the Department of Construction fully implements all basic construction procedures as prescribed for each project, especially applying the public bidding method and selecting reputable and capable contractors. The consistent principle implemented by the Department is to avoid piecemeal road maintenance, repairing only when damage occurs, and instead to address the root causes, ensuring the lifespan of the structures is 5 years or more, equivalent to new construction.
According to a representative from the Department of Construction, after the commencement of construction, the Department assigned officials to supervise and urge contractors to focus resources, allocate equipment and personnel, work overtime, and strive to complete the projects on schedule. During the construction process, the Department's leadership regularly monitored the situation and promptly resolved difficulties and obstacles for the contractors. For projects at risk of falling behind schedule, the Department required contractors to mobilize personnel and equipment to accelerate progress and adhere closely to the schedule as committed in the contract.
Simultaneously, the unit is strengthening the application of technology in project management and supervision; applying a system for recording the current condition of the road surface using images and management software to detect deterioration early for timely remediation; and encouraging contractors to boldly innovate equipment and use durable, environmentally friendly materials to improve long-term maintenance efficiency.
Thanks to the close guidance of the Department of Construction and the proactive spirit of the construction units, road maintenance and repair work in the province is gradually becoming more organized. 60-70% of the maintenance work on key routes has been completed, with many sections showing significant improvement, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
