Speaking to the press, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh said that he and his family members contributed to the construction of the museum, without asking for funding from the state or collecting money from any other source. Regarding its functions, the family hopes that the museum will contribute valuable documents about the history of the army and the country.
The General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum was built in imitation of the architecture of the house at 34 Ly Nam De (Hanoi), where the General and his family lived from 1955 to 1986. At the house at 34 Ly Nam De, the General's family welcomed President Ho Chi Minh many times. Notably, the Politburo meeting took place here on August 6, 1964 to discuss the struggle to liberate the South and unify the country.

The museum is preserving more than 300 photos, 220 artifacts, more than 150 paper documents, 23 bronze statues associated with important milestones in the General's revolutionary activities. In addition, the museum also restored two spaces: the General's former office at house number 34 Ly Nam De and the working hut at the Central Office of Southern Vietnam.
In addition, the exhibition area also has more than 100 books; a system of documentaries about the life and career of General Nguyen Chi Thanh. In particular, the museum also has many new artifacts that are being published for the first time, typically official letters from countries sent to the General.
The General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum is expected to open to visitors on July 6, on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the General's passing. The museum's official inauguration ceremony will be held on January 1, 2024, on the occasion of the General's 110th birthday.
In Thua Thien - Hue province, the hometown of the general, the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum at 144 Dang Thai Than, Hue City has officially opened to visitors from July 6, 2022.
