Protect, care for and educate children for the future of the country

Children are the future generation, playing a key role in the sustainable development of the country. Therefore, the protection, care and education of children has always received special attention from our Party and State, considering this one of the key tasks in the comprehensive socio-economic development strategy.

The business community cares, encourages and gives gifts to children in Hong Tien commune (Kien Xuong) on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025.

Despite the difficult socio-economic conditions, in recent years, Hong Tien commune (Kien Xuong) has always seriously implemented the directives of superiors on the protection, care and education of children. Mr. Le Van Luong, a civil servant of labor, war invalids and social affairs of the commune, said: The whole commune has about 1,200 children, of which more than 100 are in special circumstances. Identifying that caring for children is an important task and responsibility of the entire political system, the locality regularly promotes propaganda, education and mobilization of cadres and people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws related to children. On important occasions such as the annual International Children's Day, the commune organizes gift giving for children studying in preschools and children in difficult circumstances. On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the commune directs departments, branches and organizations to organize a Mid-Autumn Festival for the children. During the summer, the commune organizes summer activities, creating a healthy environment for children to play and develop comprehensively.

In Cao Binh fishing village, Hong Tien commune, the lives of some children have to follow their parents on the river; however, with the attention of all levels, sectors, and the business community, over the years, children in the fishing village have always received special attention. According to Mr. Vu Van Luyen, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee: on the occasion of Lunar New Year, hundreds of gifts were given to children in the fishing village by organizations and individuals. Typically, Bao Hung International Joint Stock Company, every year on Tet, gives gifts including cash and gifts to encourage children in difficult circumstances in the commune. These are truly valuable gifts both materially and spiritually to encourage and share the difficulties of children here, giving them more motivation to continue going to school.

In Hoa Binh commune (Kien Xuong), the Party Committee and the government always pay attention to taking care of children with practical actions. Every year, at the end of the school year, the commune's Youth Union has many activities to create a truly healthy and useful playground for local children. Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the commune's Youth Union, said: Hoa Binh commune has over 1,200 children. In early summer 2025, we organized swimming classes to equip children in the area with skills to prevent drowning accidents.

In addition, we coordinate with schools to organize basketball lessons for children. We hope that such activities will help children have a truly safe and rewarding summer; limit children from getting involved in unhealthy games, dangerous games, which have a negative impact on their health as well as their mental and spiritual development, and reduce the risk of injury from unfortunate accidents that may occur.

The story in Hong Tien commune or Hoa Binh commune is a vivid proof for us that no matter which locality, no matter how difficult the socio -economic conditions are, all levels, sectors and the whole society always prioritize and give the best to children. Statistics by the end of 2024, the whole province has 442,869 children, accounting for about 22.7% of the province's population. Mr. Dang Van Hon, Head of the Population and Children's Department, Department of Health said: Every year, departments, sectors and localities develop plans to implement state management work on child protection, care, education, prevention and control of abuse, injuries and child labor. Children in the whole province are entitled to health insurance policies according to regulations and are well cared for in terms of nutrition, health, mental activities and life skills training. The Department has coordinated with relevant units to focus on directing localities to improve the effectiveness of prevention, detection and coordination in providing information, investigating, handling and promptly resolving cases of violence and child abuse; coordinating with relevant units to provide advice, support and connect services for children and their families. In 2024, the whole province recorded 97 cases of participation in litigation and legal aid for children. Many children are supported in various forms such as counseling, psychological therapy, health care, social assistance, educational support, vocational training and other child protection services.

Caring for children is the responsibility of all levels, sectors and the whole society.

In addition to the achieved results, the work of protecting, caring for and educating children also faces certain difficulties. Mr. Pham Nam Thai, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, said: Some local authorities have not really paid attention to regular direction, and have not really paid attention to the work of protecting, caring for and educating children. Staff working on children at all levels still hold many concurrent positions. The implementation of the information reporting system on the work of protecting and caring for children at the grassroots level is still slow. Although the situation of abandoned children, sexually abused children, accidents and drowning has decreased, it still occurs.

Children today, the world tomorrow, the future of the country is prosperous or not depends on that generation. For children's work to be truly effective, we need to continue to mobilize all resources in society to care for children. All levels, sectors and localities need to create a favorable environment, organize activities to support and care for children, especially orphans, abandoned children, and children with disabilities so that they can have an increasingly better life.
