- Reporter: Sir, what is the significance of Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025 for Quang Binh ?
- Mr. Phan Xuan Hao : The theme of Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025 is "Green technology for a sustainable ocean". This message was identified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to emphasize the pioneering role of science, innovation and green technologies in protecting the ocean, developing a rich and powerful marine economy and preserving national sovereignty in the new era. This is also a very important annual event, aiming to raise awareness and responsibility of the whole society about the essential role of the sea and islands in sustainable development. For Quang Binh, a locality with a coastline of more than 116km, many estuaries, beautiful beaches and rich aquatic resources, the sea is not only an ecological factor but also an economic pillar.
Currently, there are thousands of fishing households living off fishing and aquaculture, and a series of coastal tourism services are also developing strongly. The Sea and Islands Week is an opportunity for the province to launch practical movements and activities, spreading the spirit of protecting the marine environment, conserving ecosystems and developing the marine economy in a sustainable and responsible manner.
- Reporter: So what specific activities has Quang Binh implemented within the framework of this week, sir?
- Mr. Phan Xuan Hao : Since the beginning of May, we have developed a response plan with many practical contents, linked to the actual situation in the locality and the green technology message, such as: Monitoring fisheries with journey monitoring devices, helping to control legal fishing activities and protect marine resources; applying circular technology in aquaculture in some localities to limit water pollution and improve product quality; testing smart trash cans at Nhat Le beach; releasing aquatic species to regenerate resources with biological control, ensuring no impact on the natural ecosystem. In particular, we are actively encouraging fishing cooperatives and unions to switch to environmentally friendly fishing models, not using electric pulses, explosives or prohibited fishing gear; at the same time, supporting the transfer of ecological aquaculture techniques, with little impact on the environment.
In addition, social organizations and associations also organize campaigns to clean up the marine environment, reduce plastic waste, and encourage the community to use environmentally friendly materials in daily life and coastal tourism business.
Youth Union members mobilize to collect garbage, preserve and protect the marine environment.

- Reporter: Regarding the theme of this year's World Oceans Day, "The Miraculous Ocean: Preserving the Source of Human Life", what activities has the province organized to spread this message, sir?
- Mr. Phan Xuan Hao: This is a very beautiful and meaningful topic. It emphasizes that the ocean is not only a place containing natural beauty, but also a "source of life" in the true sense: Providing food, regulating the climate, creating jobs and preserving biodiversity.
In response, Quang Binh organized a series of large-scale and creative communication and educational activities, such as: Photo exhibitions and documentary film screenings about the sea; thematic exchanges with marine environmental experts; launching the movement "Joining hands to protect the ocean" in schools... More than 30 schools from Le Thuy to Quang Trach organized painting competitions, recycling model making, sea and island knowledge competitions and coastal cleaning activities initiated by students. Children are truly becoming a powerful force inspiring action for the marine environment. In particular, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province will coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to organize the national launching ceremony of Vietnam Sea and Islands Week in response to World Oceans Day 2025 and sideline activities, such as: Workshop "Institutions, planning - opportunities for blue marine economic development", workshop "Application of AI in journalism, communication of marine environmental culture and marine tourism development".
- Reporter: What message do you want to send to the people of Quang Binh on this special occasion?
- Mr. Phan Xuan Hao: The ocean is wonderful, but also very vulnerable. We do not protect the ocean just because of duty, but for our own lives and future. I call on every citizen, especially fishermen, to act more responsibly towards the marine environment: Do not litter, do not overfish, do not contribute to pollution, protect the ocean with technology, knowledge and love for the ocean.
Every small action, when multiplied, will create a big change. If we do not act now, the future of the ocean and our own future will be threatened. Let's consider protecting the ocean as the responsibility of all of us, so that our future generations can still live in a world with blue seas, abundant fish and white sand.
Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025 is not only a media event but also a specific call to action, demonstrating Quang Binh's strong commitment to preserving the "green lungs" of the planet. With the support of the entire political system, community and people, it is hoped that Quang Binh's marine environment will become increasingly green, clean and beautiful, creating a foundation for sustainable development in the future. Quang Binh is contributing to writing a sustainable marine future, where people develop in harmony with nature.
- Reporter: Thank you very much!
