Implementing the Food Safety Action Month 2025 with the theme "Ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food", the Center advised the City to direct the strengthening of inter-sectoral coordination in inspecting and supervising the activities of production and business establishments and collective kitchens. Organizing 11 thematic talks; establishing 13 inter-sectoral teams to inspect 95 food production, processing and trading establishments, quickly testing 25 samples, detecting 7 unqualified samples; destroying over 200 kg of vegetables and fruits.
In the 2024-2025 school year, To Hieu Primary School has 896 students in 5 grades, of which 700 are boarding students. To organize meals for students, the school has signed contracts with 6 cooks. Every year, the staff participates in food safety training courses. 100% of the cooks are periodically checked for health. The school has signed contracts with food suppliers with business registration certificates and food safety certificates to import food ingredients. At the same time, it closely monitors and inspects from the raw material selection stage to the food processing stage.
Ms. Pham Thanh Tam, Vice Principal of the school, informed: The school has developed a weekly menu and posted it publicly. During the process of importing and processing food, the school and representatives of the parents' association regularly check the hygiene and quality of meals for students. Along with that, the city's functional units regularly conduct periodic and surprise inspections on the organization of boarding meals for students. Thanks to good implementation of all stages, in the 2024-2025 school year, the school did not have any food poisoning incidents, ensuring nutrition and health for students.
Ms. Leo Thi Vinh, a food service business owner in Ca village, Chieng An ward, said: I buy food from reputable establishments that have contracts to ensure food safety with the supplier. During the processing process, restaurant staff wear aprons, plastic gloves, and medical masks. In addition, the facilities are regularly propagated, inspected, and re-evaluated by officials from the City Health Center for conditions to re-issue food safety certificates.
To protect the rights and health of consumers, in addition to the involvement of functional forces, food production and trading establishments need to raise awareness of compliance with food safety laws.
