Typhoon Yagi with strong intensity is heading towards the Gulf of Tonkin, but Thanh Hoa still has more than 880 vessels with more than 5,300 workers operating at sea.

At noon on September 5, some boats continued to take shelter in Au to avoid storm Lach Hoi.

According to a quick report from relevant units, the latest synthesis up to 9:30 a.m. on September 5, the whole province still had 882 vessels with 5,350 workers still operating at sea.

However, according to information from the Provincial Border Guard Command, 100% of the vessels operating at sea have been informed about the storm and are in regular contact with their families and authorities. Currently, the Border Guard is actively calling on the vessels to quickly move to safe shelters.

This is potentially dangerous if the boat has problems, the engine breaks down... they will not be able to take shelter in time.

It is known that the whole province currently has 6,116 vessels with 19,901 workers regularly operating at sea. By 9:30 a.m. on September 5, 5,234 vessels with 14,551 workers had entered storm shelters inside and outside the province.

Forecast for the night of September 5 and early morning of September 6, the Gulf of Tonkin will have strong winds and waves.

According to the forecast from Thanh Hoa Hydrometeorological Station, at 10:00 a.m. the same day, the center of storm Yagi was at about 19.1 degrees North latitude; 115.5 degrees East longitude, in the northern sea area of the North East Sea, about 490km east of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 16 (184-201km/h), gusting to level 17, moving westward at a speed of about 10km/h.

It is forecasted that by 10am on September 7, the eye of the storm will be in the Gulf of Tonkin. From tonight, the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin will have strong winds and waves.
