On the evening of March 30, HAGL suffered a 0-2 defeat against The Cong Viettel in the quarter-finals of the 2024-2025 National Cup and was eliminated.

Not only was HAGL eliminated, they also suffered a huge loss when young midfielder Pham Ly Duc suffered a serious injury.
Talking about the reason why the player born in 2003 got injured, coach Le Quang Trai said: "He got injured because the field was not safe."
In the second half of the match between HAGL and The Cong Viettel, Ly Duc made a tackle but the landing position was not favorable, causing him to be hurt and had to leave the field on a stretcher.
Coach Le Quang Trai confirmed that the reason the new player of the Vietnam team suffered a serious injury was because the My Dinh stadium was too bad.
“The doctors responded that the injury was serious. He was injured when he tackled the ball. The pitch was not suitable for a match. Dinh Lam’s injury was also due to the poor quality of the pitch,” the head coach of HAGL shared.
Regarding the quality of My Dinh Stadium, Coach Nguyen Duc Thang of The Cong Viettel also expressed dissatisfaction.
“My Dinh Stadium is really bad, both teams were affected. We had to change our tactics. Controlling the ball on the rough pitch is really difficult,” coach Duc Thang emphasized.
In recent years, My Dinh Stadium's surface has been deteriorating due to the continuous organization of sports and entertainment events.
At the AFF Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team will not be able to play at My Dinh Stadium because it has to make way for a music event.
During FIFA Days in March 2025, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team also had to choose Binh Duong Stadium as their home ground.
