VTV.vn - The results of the 2024 US presidential election are becoming increasingly unpredictable.
With less than two weeks to go until Election Day on November 5, the race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is extremely tense. According to the most recent poll conducted by CNN, both candidates have an equal support rate at 47%, indicating a close and fierce competition. The CNN poll results show that the support rate between the two candidates has hardly changed throughout the campaign. Previously in September, Ms. Harris was supported by 48% of potential voters, while Mr. Trump was at 47%. The latest poll also shows that the majority of voters (85%) have determined which candidate they will support from the beginning of the campaign, and only 15% of voters have changed their mind during the process. This shows stability in the choices of American voters, with only 2% still undecided and 9% saying they might change their minds before voting. In the context of the election, Ms. Harris seems to have an advantage in the number of early votes. The CNN poll shows that, among voters who have already voted, 61% choose Ms. Harris, while only 36% support Mr. Trump. However, among voters who have not yet voted, Mr. Trump leads by 50% to Ms. Harris's 44%. Views of both Ms. Harris (41% favorable and 52% unfavorable) and Mr. Trump (41% favorable and 54% unfavorable) among registered voters are negative. Mr. Trump's views are almost identical to September, while Ms. Harris's have become slightly more negative (down 4 percentage points in favorability). The two candidates’ ties on the top issues remain about the same as they were last month. Trump maintains an edge on handling the economy (50% say they trust him more, compared with just 37% who trust Harris) and immigration (50% Trump to 34% Harris), and a slimmer edge on handling foreign policy (48% Trump to 38%). Harris, on the other hand, holds a large edge on handling abortion and reproductive rights (52% Harris to 31% Trump) and a smaller edge on protecting democracy (45% Harris to 41% Trump).
