Fly straight to the land of Andersen's fairy tales

Denmark is not a famous name on the world tourism map, but the fairy tales "The Ugly Duckling", "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Brave Tin Soldier", "The Princess and the Pea" or "The Little Match Girl" of this country are associated with the childhood of many generations of Vietnamese people. Flying straight to the land of Andersen's fairy tales is still the secret dream of many people among the hustle and bustle of noisy and bustling destinations... This dream is now easier when the direct flight to the world-famous fairy tale land of Vietnam Airlines is about to take off.

Copenhagen brings a sense of peace from the first minute you set foot in it.

Love at first sight

In contrast to the dark gray color covering Frankfurt airport - where we transited a few hours earlier - Copenhagen airport impressed with its stalls lined up with each wall a different color, bright and vibrant. At the largest airport in Denmark, which is also one of the most important transit hubs in the Nordic region, cafe corners are stylized into unique horse-drawn carriages that attract visitors from the first step to the country known as the happiest in the world .

Whether it was our love for the land of Andersen's fairy tales or the gentle warmth of Copenhagen airport, we all shared a sense of familiarity and friendliness, even though for many of us in the group, this was our first time setting foot in this country.

Nyhavn - the historic harbor famous for its colorful houses is one of Copenhagen's most popular destinations

However, the capital Copenhagen is exactly the "wonderland" in the hustle and bustle of modern life today. The wide roads with bicycles as the main means of transport, completely different from the dense traffic of cars and motorbikes in most major cities in the world. The tour guide seemed to guess our thoughts and immediately updated: With a population of only about 700,000, Copenhagen has more than 700,000 bicycles, more than 5 times the number of cars.

According to some statistics, nearly a third (29%) of all journeys across Copenhagen and 41% of journeys to work or school are done by bike. Danes cycle a lot, and those who live in Copenhagen cycle even more. Each Dane cycles 1.4 km/day, while each Copenhagener cycles 3 km/day. Thanks to cycling, the people of the capital Copenhagen save 1 billion euros and 1 million sick days every year.

Danes ride a lot of bicycles, people who live in Copenhagen ride bicycles even more

In fact, just by looking with the "naked eye", one can understand why Copenhageners love cycling so much. Every street has a dedicated bicycle lane, up to 2 meters wide. At busy intersections, a series of designs make cycling safer and more convenient. Like cars and pedestrians, cyclists have their own traffic signals, with three colors: red, yellow and green. Some busy intersections also have railings or steps designed for bicycles. Thanks to that, at many intersections when the light is red, cyclists can sit comfortably on their bikes while waiting for the traffic signal to change and continue their journey.

The infrastructure is convenient so the elderly choose to cycle, the young cycle and even babies are placed in the large front box by their parents to "cycle". Bicycles here therefore come in all shapes, sizes, colors... creating an impressive highlight in the space filled with the typical Nordic atmosphere.

Danish people leisurely cycle and jog through fairy-tale castles.

Although I don't want to, I and perhaps many foreign tourists cannot help but compare and "envy" the fresh, relaxing air in Copenhagen. Pollution, dust, noise, traffic jams, and flooding, proportional to growth, are problems in many large cities around the world, but here, Danish people leisurely cycle through large parks, where the sounds of doves and magpies cluck right in the heart of the city...

It brings a feeling of peace and real enjoyment even though the weather in Denmark is as capricious as a teenage girl. The sky is sunny and rainy all of a sudden; the wind is still strong and the winter snow is freezing right behind the glass... I suddenly remembered the story "The Little Match Girl" and suddenly felt strangely warm inside.

Living in a fresh atmosphere and picturesque scenery, Danish people have the highest happiness index in the world.

I only worry about money, while others worry about… ve

The night in Copenhagen does not last long because the shops close quite early. At 8 pm, the number of people walking on the street can be counted on the fingers because happiness for the people in this rich country is curling up in a warm blanket to read a book, sipping hot chocolate, laughing with loved ones under the flickering candlelight... I have the feeling that while we, the faraway tourists, are still eagerly exploring the land of world-famous fairy tales, the Danes are gathering around their own fireplace. It's an irresistible "envy" again!

You can easily find warm family scenes anywhere in Denmark.

Because Danes value warm moments with their loved ones, they get married quite early. According to custom, a 25-year-old Danish man who is not yet married is considered "severely single". On his birthday, he is not allowed to blow out candles or cut the cake, but must sit still while friends and relatives throw cinnamon powder at him. Therefore, it is easy to see romantic scenes of couples and warm families anywhere in Denmark.

That was also the image we saw when we arrived at Frederiksborg Castle, Hillerød town. What impressed me was not only the majestic and magnificent architecture of the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia, but also the Danish tourists who were standing hand in hand admiring this work.

The Danes often take their families on tours of the famous castles of the fairy tale land.

When we arrived, Frederiksborg Castle was not too crowded, the visitors were mainly elderly people from other parts of Denmark who came here to visit. Groups of "old friends" in pairs, holding hands, pointing out the gilded carvings on the wall hanging with tapestries; leaning their heads to read to each other the explanations about historical figures or simply immersing themselves in the lavish artistic setting... "They probably shared their youth and now grow old together but still hand in hand to explore the world ", I thought to myself.

They may have shared their youth and now are growing old together, still hand in hand exploring the world.

Love is not only about holding hands, about stories around the fireplace at night, but love is present in every corner of life in Denmark. Shops are designed with 2-4 chairs, for couples, married couples, families of several generations... They whisper to each other under candlelight, sip coffee, and enjoy a romantic dinner together. My groupmate, over 50 years old, suddenly exclaimed: "I only worry about money, but here they "love" (love). The weather is cold, the road is rainy, seeing them sitting together like that, I suddenly want to love too".

- Photo 9.

Every little corner here is enough to make people absent-minded, absent-minded, filled with love of life and happiness.

At this moment, I suddenly understood why Denmark is known as the happiest country in the world; why Hans Christian Andersen, the famous Danish writer, was able to create immortal fairy tales, an indispensable part of the childhood of many generations of readers around the world.

Denmark for me has now become a "must-visit destination once in a lifetime" to rediscover my childhood and recharge my batteries of happiness.

Vietnam Airlines will launch the first direct flight between Vietnam and Denmark, connecting Ho Chi Minh City directly with the capital Copenhagen from December 15. This is the first and only flight to date that will take passengers directly between the two countries, opening a new air bridge between Southeast Asia and Northern Europe.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Copenhagen route will be operated with a frequency of 3 flights per week using the modern wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, providing the most comfortable flight experience for passengers. The flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Copenhagen is expected to depart at 22:45 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the return flight from Copenhagen to Ho Chi Minh City will depart at 10:50 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
