With the message “Building a Vietnamese film industry rich in national identity, modern and humane”, the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival brings inspiration for artistic creativity, excitement and impression. With 177 participating films, this Film Festival has the largest number of participating films ever. The Selection Council has selected 146 films, including 91 competition films and 56 films in the panorama program.

Among the 16 feature films participating in the festival, there are many good films with artistic quality, many creative films in cinematic language, many unique discoveries in the way of telling a story. The filmmaking team from producers, screenwriters, directors, actors, cameramen, musicians , sound and editing are increasingly professional. The content and form of expression are diverse and rich. Many films have good ideological content, attractive artistic expression, aiming at human values through the character system; exploiting beauty, humanity and especially delving into the beauty in the Vietnamese soul and Vietnamese people.

The 25 animated films competing at the Festival show richness and diversity in content, themes and forms of expression. Many films have brought good emotions, deeply expressing humanity and high aesthetics. Historical themes are invested in, expressed quite elaborately and creatively in terms of setting, character creation and sound design.

Within the framework of the Film Festival, two seminars on building the Vietnamese film industry and copyright in the film industry with more than 400 delegates attending, nearly 30 opinions, frank and practical comments, proposed solutions to build the Vietnamese film industry.

The exhibition “Da Lat - Inspiring Cinema” attracted 1,500 visitors and residents of Da Lat City to enjoy. Many artists and viewers were very moved and proud to look back at the images in the films of the 70-year journey of Vietnamese Revolutionary Cinema.

During the 5 days, more than 10,000 audiences came to watch free movies at the Cinestar theater system and 30 mobile movie screenings, film screenings and exchanges with film crews at Da Lat University, Lam Dong Ethnic Boarding School and the province's Army Academy in Lam Ha, Dam Rong, Duc Trong, Don Duong and Da Lat districts.

For Vietnamese cinema to continue to develop in the coming time, it requires the efforts of industry management agencies, film activists, film production, distribution and dissemination enterprises and the support of the public. The team of people working in cinema and artists must be steadfast in political and ideological qualities; constantly learn and improve their qualifications to both absorb the quintessence of world cinema and preserve and promote the cultural identity of the Vietnamese nation, to have excellent works that attract the public, contributing to building cinema into a cultural industry reaching out to the international market.

In the feature film category, director Bui Thac Chuyen of the film “Glorious Ashes” was awarded the best director award; cameraman Nguyen Phan Linh Dan (film “Girl from the Past”) and cameraman Nguyen K'Linh (film “Glorious Ashes”) were awarded the best cameraman award; author Luu Huynh (scriptwriter of the film “Mother, Butterfly Day”) was awarded the best scriptwriter award; musician Ton That An (film “Glorious Ashes”) was awarded the best music award; sound designer Vick Vo Hoang (film “Em va Trinh”) was awarded the best sound award.
