After nearly 2 months of treatment at Bach Mai Hospital with 27 hospital-wide consultations - Major Nguyen Van Chuong, Operations Assistant of the 21st Information Brigade, Ministry of National Defense - one of the most critical patients, admitted to Bach Mai Hospital in the early morning of September 13, 2023, has recovered and is eligible for discharge.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital said that after receiving the victims of the fire in the early morning of September 13, Bach Mai Hospital immediately activated the emergency treatment system.

Under the close guidance of the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government, the Ministry of Health , Hanoi City and the attention of the whole society, Bach Mai Hospital has been determined to do its utmost to fulfill its promise to successfully treat 31 victims of the fire, of whom the oldest person is 81 years old, the youngest child is 8 months old, 4 patients are in critical condition, including a doctor of Bach Mai Hospital and the most serious patient is Major Nguyen Van Chuong.

To achieve today's good results, Bach Mai Hospital has gone through extremely difficult and challenging days and nights, mobilizing all resources from talented doctors, experts, medicines, chemicals, equipment with hundreds of hospital-wide consultations and the enthusiastic support of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Center, Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, Institute of Tropical Medicine, National Institute of Burns, 108 Central Military Hospital, Institute of Marine Medicine.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co also emphasized the role of military-civilian medical coordination in emergency situations to treat victims and hoped that in the future, the coordination would become a unified process to be ready to respond when disasters occur.

Bach Mai Hospital is expected to propose a national science and technology task on issuing guidelines for disaster emergency procedures.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Giap - Deputy Director of the Hospital presented a summary report on the process of receiving and treating patients. In addition to specialized work to promptly provide emergency care and intensive treatment for patients with multiple injuries, heart, lung, brain injuries, coma, and severe smoke poisoning, the Hospital also ensures maximum care for the lives and mental health of patients and their families, ensures funding for treatment as well as living and nutritional expenses, and does not require any patient to contribute anything.

The most serious patient, Major Nguyen Van Chuong, was hospitalized in a coma with multiple injuries and multiple organ failure (heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, brain, muscles), severe smoke and toxic gas poisoning, respiratory burns, and had to be put on an endotracheal tube.

Through nearly 30 hospital-wide and inter-hospital consultations, with the active coordination of specialized treatment, psychological treatment, rehabilitation, nutrition... up to now, the patient has recovered well in terms of movement and memory, and has not shown any signs of late neurological complications.

Sharing from the bottom of his heart, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuc - the father of Major Nguyen Van Chuong, who has been at the hospital for nearly 2 months, day and night anxiously worrying about his son's life, said that the family had to temporarily suppress the heartbreaking pain and loss to support their son in his life-threatening situation. Now that he has welcomed his son back to his family, there are no words to describe the choking emotions after so many days of anxiety.

On behalf of Bach Mai Hospital, Mr. Dao Xuan Co presented the patient with a bouquet of fresh flowers and a gift expressing the affection of the medical staff of Bach Mai Hospital along with a discharge paper with the hope that Major Chuong will continue his journey of life, overcoming adversity, with faith and hope.

Sharing joy with the patient and his family on a special meaningful day, Major General Nguyen Duc Manh, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard; Colonel Nguyen Hong Vu, Political Commissar of Brigade 21, gave a speech to congratulate his teammates, congratulate the success of Bach Mai Hospital and presented patient Chuong and his family with meaningful bouquets of flowers and gifts.

On behalf of Thanh Xuan district, Mr. Duong Duc Khoa - Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Xuan district - Hanoi City presented support funds to patient Nguyen Van Chuong and his family in the amount of 3 billion 360 million VND, taken from the support source of benefactors contributing to the families of the victims of the mini apartment fire.

After a series of days of effort with a spirit of dedication and a motherly heart, Bach Mai Hospital and its colleagues have fulfilled their commitment "For the health of the people" with 31 patients of the terrible fire that shocked society.

The recovery of patients is the greatest and most silent happiness of every doctor!
