In the movie Life is Still Beautiful, the character Bat, played by actor Tuan Anh, is described as a debauched person, ready to "harm" everyone.
Although he is only a supporting character, Bat has a lot of screen time. He has pushed miserable people like Luyen, Luu, and Thach into the abyss of misfortune. Especially in recent episodes, Bat stole a watch, causing Thach to have to bear a huge debt.
Bat is the most "harmful" character in the movie "Life is still beautiful".
Faced with Bat’s “harmful” acts, a portion of the audience expressed their displeasure with this character. Although they acknowledged that actor Tuan Anh acted well and successfully portrayed Bat, they did not like the tragedies Bat brought.
“Watching a movie for entertainment but letting Mr. Bat cause trouble will only make you feel frustrated”, “The director and screenwriter went too far, a supporting character but let it affect the flow of the movie too much”, “Can you give Mr. Bat all his roles so the audience can watch the movie more comfortably”, some comments from the audience.
Many viewers are upset with the character Bat.
In response to this reaction from the audience, actor Tuan Anh shared with VTC News : "Personally, I feel that the way director Nguyen Danh Dung creates drama in his films is very subtle, there will be ups and downs like the diversity of life.
In the first episodes of the film, before Bat appeared, I read a very good comment from the audience: "Before the storm comes, there will be peaceful days."
So it is not difficult to see that the recent episodes are the beginning of many troubles that the main characters have to face. As for the comments that the audience gave to Bat after the scene where this character caused misery for Thach, I feel like the audience has integrated themselves into the drama. They must sympathize with the kind and honest characters when their trust is taken advantage of to react like that.
But everything that happens has a reason and purpose to highlight the lesson that the director and screenwriter embedded in it.
"I feel great bringing the experience of "movies are life, life is movies" to the audience."
That creates the diversity in life that the director shows in Life is still beautiful. I think that each character's personality built in the film represents the light and dark colors that create many emotional levels for the audience.
So, besides the somewhat tense comments of dissatisfaction with Bat's work, I also read some other comments agreeing that this "is not a strange story, but clearly we have experienced or encountered it in life".
Personally, I feel great about bringing the experience of "movies are life, life is movies" to the audience.
In fact, in the previous episodes, the audience quite liked Tuan Anh’s natural and authentic acting as Bat. But now that this character has caused too much trouble, they even demanded to “cut the role” of Bat.
"I hope people will continue to enjoy the film."
Faced with this, the actor happily said: “After many new details in the past episodes, I received many different reactions from the audience. I am very grateful that everyone has paid attention and care to my character regardless of the attitude. I really want to say: Thank you very much."
Because it's great that the audience has had all kinds of emotions while watching the movie and the character Bat.
Regardless of whether I have performed my role well or not, I am very happy that I have fulfilled the director's request for my work, which is to portray a villain with an unpredictable psychology, a "comet" for everyone around me.
I hope that everyone will continue to receive the film and my role from an artistic perspective, through the storytelling of director Nguyen Danh Dung."
