Ronaldo's tragedy

Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to find collective glory and is facing the possibility of leaving Al-Nassr earlier than expected with less than two months left on his contract.

Despite living a life of luxury in Saudi Arabia with a huge salary and a lavish lifestyle with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo cannot find the one thing that money cannot buy: collective titles and true satisfaction in his career.

Ronaldo joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023 and is earning a salary of £164m a year from Al-Nassr alone. He also earns a further £49m from off-field deals. At 40, Ronaldo is on the verge of becoming a billionaire, one of the few athletes in the world to have reached this milestone.

Rumors of a new, even bigger contract were even circulating in January, but his future in Saudi Arabia is now uncertain as the contract is set to expire in just two months.

According to Marca , the reason for the delay in the renewal is not money, but something that even Saudi Arabia cannot give him. That is true satisfaction.

Ronaldo and his family have built their home in the upscale Al Muhammadiyah residential area in Riyadh. He also owns many expensive properties including the two most expensive penthouses in Lisbon, a £7 million villa on Madeira Island, a £1.4 million holiday villa in La Resina, Marbella, and a multi-million pound mansion on Jumeirah Bay Island in Dubai with full luxury amenities.

Not only real estate, Ronaldo also spent a lot of money on a collection of watches, supercars and a Bombardier Global Express 6500 private jet worth 61 million pounds. Girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez often shows off luxurious images of this private jet on social networks.

Ronaldo is currently enjoying a lavish life off the pitch, but has yet to find collective glory. He scored 14 goals in 16 games when he joined Al-Nassr in January 2023, followed by 44 goals in 45 games. This season, Ronaldo continues to lead the scoring charts with 23 goals. But all those goals have not helped Al-Nassr win a single title.

Despite having many former European stars in the squad such as Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Aymeric Laporte or blockbuster contract Jhon Duran, Al-Nassr went through a trophyless season, including a shocking defeat in the AFC Champions League against Kawasaki Frontale (Japan).

After this defeat, Ronaldo expressed deep disappointment: "Sometimes dreams have to be put on hold. I am proud of the team and what we have contributed. Thank you to the fans who have always been by our side."

Another 2-3 defeat to league leaders Al-Ittihad reportedly left Ronaldo so angry that he left the field immediately after the match without changing his clothes. Al-Nassr are currently in 4th place, thus in danger of not qualifying for the AFC Champions League next season.

With his contract expiring soon, Ronaldo must make a decision on his future, but it is difficult to imagine him playing for another team at the end of his career. Ronaldo is still determined to aim for the 2026 World Cup with Portugal and reach the goal of reaching 1,000 professional goals.

Rumors of a move to another team in the Saudi Pro League have emerged, but after what he has achieved in this oil-rich land, Ronaldo is still looking for the greatest treasure, which is true glory on the pitch.
