Focus on "practicing" the questions
The story of "diligence makes up for intelligence" is not only the "key" to success for weak students, but even excellent examples like Thien Phuc or Le Tran take that motto as a guideline in their learning process.
“I feel that I am not a very smart person. There were times when I was tired and helpless because of difficult chemistry problems, but I kept trying and never gave up. Hard work is not only measured by time but also by learning efficiency. Besides the knowledge and exercises taught by teachers in class, I also participated in online courses, focused on practicing questions, and consulted documents on reputable websites such as HChemO…” - Phuc said.

Tran also agreed, sharing: “With math, chemistry or any subject, to achieve high results, not only luck is needed but also a wealth of knowledge. That requires each student to accumulate and improve every day through many different methods such as studying at school, studying online, grasping basic and advanced knowledge, practicing questions... I often go to discussion forums on Facebook towards the math olympiad or refer to documents and exam questions of provinces and countries on the AOPS website. From there, I can discover many effective problem-solving methods and solve many new types of questions.”
Improve weaknesses
Faced with limitations in organic chemistry, Thien Phuc said she took full advantage of all support resources, focusing on improving instead of ignoring or studying lopsidedly. However, when entering the exam room, the chemistry major still tried her best to maximize her strengths to "score full marks" on the inorganic chemistry questions that she was confident in and had a firm grasp of.

Similarly, Le Tran also constantly overcomes her weaknesses in geometry by exchanging lessons with friends and reviewing knowledge thoroughly. At the same time, she develops her ability to solve combinatorial problems to support her friends. In addition, she also takes advantage of her 7.5 IELTS English level to explore international math problems.
Test taking strategy
To achieve many high achievements throughout her high school years, female student Thien Phuc shared her experience in the exam room: “Whether it is a specialized subject or other subjects, when I enter the exam room, I always grasp the structure of the questions and arrange my time to solve the questions reasonably. With easy questions, I do not get subjective or overconfident, but do it firmly so as not to lose points unreasonably. With difficult questions, I think carefully and find appropriate solutions.”

Also controlling and allocating time for each solution when entering the exam room, Le Tran shared: “Of course there will be types of questions that we have never encountered or solved before. To limit losing points, I focus on linking the chain of knowledge I have learned. There are even methods that I have not used for a long time, but in difficulty comes wisdom, I can untie the knot and solve the problem.”
Mental stability
An important secret that both Quang Nam students who were exempted from the high school graduation exam agreed on was to maintain a stable mentality throughout the learning and exam process. The math major student had a time when he "went downhill" due to negative thoughts and an unstable mentality, leading to a lack of clear direction in the process of approaching and acquiring knowledge. The chemistry major female student also had many times lost her appetite, lost sleep, and failed her exams due to the pressure of studying and the stress of the exam room.

But thinking about her passion for mathematics and her responsibility to the school, teachers, friends and herself, Le Tran revived her spirit and successfully won the big awards. Thien Phuc also chose to focus on positive things, thinking about the joy of achieving her dream of being admitted to Hanoi Medical University, the little girl eliminated the heavy pressure, stabilized her spirit and tried to pursue her goals.
Connect and grow
To be mentally strong and steadfast on the path they have chosen, besides their own determination, both Le Tran and Thien Phuc have sought connections, received support and companionship to go far.

“There were many times when I felt self-conscious, discouraged and disheartened on the path to conquering knowledge. However, the school, teachers, friends and especially my family and loved ones always stood by me and believed in me. That was a great source of both material and spiritual strength that motivated and encouraged me to try to improve myself every day” - Tran confided.
Phuc continued: “I practice solving questions not only by myself but also thanks to teachers, friends and more seniors with a wealth of knowledge, experience and experience who have enthusiastically supported me. I also have a “special friend” who has accompanied, helped and developed with me. I think that in the process of studying, taking exams and even in life, the connection will help us create internal strength and external strength to develop ourselves and society.”
