Creative form

In response to Vietnam Law Day on November 9, in the recent flag-salute meeting of Tay Son Secondary School, a "Mock Trial" was held to try a school violence case, attracting more than 1,000 students and youth union members in the ward to participate.

During the trial, the Hoa Cuong Ward Police Youth Union, the Hoa Cuong Ward Youth Union and the Appeal Court Youth Union - Supreme People's Court in Da Nang recreated a trial with full composition, order and procedures like a real trial. From the trial panel, the representative of the prosecutor's office, the court clerk, the defendant, the victim, etc., the court staff and youth union members played the roles, performing the correct functions and tasks according to the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Violations, indictments and verdicts are presented objectively and strictly. Through this, students and teenagers better understand the legal consequences of school violence, contributing to raising awareness of law compliance, building for themselves civilized standards of behavior, contributing to repelling violence, and building a healthy and friendly learning environment.

Similarly, the Thanh Khe Ward Police Youth Union also coordinated with the National Athlete Training Center Youth Union, the People's Court Youth Union of Region 1 and the People's Procuracy Youth Union of Region 3 to organize a mock trial with the theme "Intentionally causing injury" at Thai Phien High School.

The content of the trial was the case of “Intentional Infliction of Injury”, which originated from a small conflict while playing sports between young people. Although it was only a mock trial, the composition of the trial and the trial procedure were fully and realistically recreated, making the audience feel like they were attending a real trial.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Trinh, Principal of Thai Phien High School, propagating the law through "Mock Trial" is a creative, lively and intuitive way, bringing a higher communication effect than conventional forms. From there, it helps students and teenagers to be aware of the seriousness of the law, understand more deeply the consequences of violating the law to raise awareness of law compliance in life.

"Mirror" reflects oneself

After witnessing the indictment and sentencing in the mock trial of the case of "Intentional Infliction of Injury", Tran Gia Linh (grade 11/2, Thai Phien High School) shared: "Even though it was just a mock trial, I felt that everything was real down to the smallest detail. That helped me feel the strictness of the law to build a decent and healthy lifestyle for myself."

Male student Le Ba T. (grade 12/4, Thai Phien High School) admitted: “I once had a conflict with a friend. After participating in the mock trial, I realized that it was a wrong action, with the risk of leading to a violation of the law. From now on, I will adjust my attitude and actions, try to resolve conflicts in life, not letting it lead to wrongdoing.”

According to Mr. Ngo Cong Tuan (born 1978, Thanh Khe ward), adolescence is the stage when children are developing and changing both physically and mentally, so it is easy for them to have uncontrolled thoughts and actions. Strengthening propaganda and education during this stage is very necessary, helping children form standards of behavior with friends, family and society.

“I appreciate the way the law is propagated and disseminated through mock trials. Each trial is considered a vivid lesson, a real-life example to help young people reflect on themselves to live more ethically and responsibly towards the community.”

As part of a series of activities in response to Vietnam Law Day, the City Youth Union has just coordinated with the People's Court, the People's Procuracy of Region 4, the Hoa Khanh Ward Youth Union, and the Youth Union of Detention Camp No. 1 to organize a mock trial with the theme "Trial of illegal drug use cases" attracting the participation of many students from the University of Education (University of Danang).

After the mock trial, the judicial agencies integrated the dissemination of legal knowledge on drug prevention, directly discussed and answered questions for students about legal regulations and consequences of using, storing and illegally trading drugs. This helped students gain a deeper understanding of legal regulations to live more correctly and responsibly.

The City Youth Union leader said that he is continuing to direct the youth union branches to step up the organization of mock trials, expand them to residential areas, and closely follow hot social issues to increase the effectiveness of legal education, contributing to bringing legal regulations closer to each citizen.
