Like many other young men and women, after a period of getting to know each other, in January 2016, Ms. Hoang Thi Van, a Tay ethnic group, and Mr. Tu Van Seo, a San Diu ethnic group (Son Hai village, Hai Hoa commune) moved in together under the same roof with the blessings of relatives and friends. It was thought that from now on, the young couple would live happily together with many plans and dreams, building a prosperous and happy life. However, life did not turn out as they expected.
The traffic accident that occurred at 4 p.m. on November 27, 2016 shattered the plans and dreams of the young couple. At that time, Ms. Van was riding a motorbike on an inter-village road when a truck carrying dirt rolled under her, crushing her arms, her hair caught in the wheel, peeling off a large piece of her scalp, causing her to lose consciousness on the spot. At that time, Ms. Van was 4 months pregnant. Due to her difficult circumstances, after more than 1 month in the hospital, Ms. Van asked to go home for treatment with half of her arms amputated and the pain and sadness of her unfortunate fate.
Fortunately, the fetus she was carrying in her womb was still kept alive like a miracle. Sharing about the days of being in the emergency room, being treated at the hospital, and then being able to return home in an unharmed state, Ms. Van's eyes were red, tears kept flowing, rolling down her face, making those around her feel sorry and sympathetic.

In May 2017, Ms. Van happily welcomed a baby girl into the world. Every time she looked at her sleeping child, her heart was filled with love and she could not hold back her tears, because she was worried about the future of her husband, her daughter and her husband when she lost her hands to care for and build the family. However, thanks to the encouragement and love of her relatives, Ms. Van regained her strength and steadfastly continued on the thorny road ahead.
All the pain gradually subsided, giving way to a strong will to live. Ms. Van told herself that being alive was a happiness and that tomorrow, and the day after that, she still had to continue overcoming life's challenges. "I told myself that, whether disabled or able-bodied, everyone has the right to equality and the right to be confident in themselves," Ms. Van shared.
Luckily, Ms. Van has a very loving husband who has taken care of everything for her. From bathing, personal hygiene, to doing laundry, taking care of the children... he does everything without hesitation. Mr. Seo is not only a spiritual support, but also a "pair of hands" to help Ms. Van overcome the great disaster.
Every day, in addition to taking care of his wife and children, Mr. Seo works hard, sells agricultural products online, and takes advantage of the time when his grandmother takes care of his wife and children to go to sea to save money to take care of life and pay off debts after the incident. Overcoming physical pain and the burden of making a living, the couple always preserves their small home with love and unity. When watching their children grow up day by day, their innocent smiles are the source of encouragement for them to continue trying and overcome all difficulties.
Up to now, their small family has 2 children, the eldest daughter is in 3rd grade and the son has just turned 2 years old. Although the family's life is still full of hardships, in that simple house there is always full of laughter. They still believe in the future, believe that with determination and strong love, all difficulties will pass, so that a better tomorrow will come to the family.
When the pain is gone, what remains is the willpower and faith in life. From the story of Ms. Hoang Thi Van, a woman who has steadfastly overcome the tragedy of a traffic accident to continue living and raising her children, we appreciate life even more, and are more aware of every action when participating in traffic, so that there is no more pain and loss on the roads that should only be filled with joy and happiness.
