Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Trung Dung works with several Canadian provinces

Within the framework of the Program to Promote Vietnamese Localities in the United States and Canada organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . On the afternoon of April 27 (local time), in British Columbia, Canada, a delegation of Ha Tinh province led by Comrade Hoang Trung Dung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council attended the Seminar: "Promoting and enhancing exports, investment and trade between localities of Vietnam and Canada". The seminar was attended by Comrade Phan Kieu Thu, Consul General of Vietnam in Vancouver, Canada; Mr. Day-Vit I-bi, Premier of the province of Brittany, Columbia, Canada; Mr. Jagrup Brar, Minister of Trade of the province of British Columbia, Canada.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the seminar, Comrade Hoang Trung Dung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that Vietnam and Canada established a Comprehensive Partnership in November 2017.

Up to now, the political , diplomatic, defense, security, economic-trade-investment cooperation between the two countries has achieved good results. The two sides have built a legal framework for bilateral relations; both are members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

This is an important corridor to promote trade and investment relations between the two countries. Since the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans- Pacific Partnership took effect, two-way trade between Vietnam and Canada has grown by 170%.

Along with comprehensive cooperation at the State level, forms of cooperation between localities of the two countries are constantly expanding, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

Within the framework of the Local Promotion Program in Canada and through the Dialogue, Comrade Hoang Trung Dung hopes to open up many opportunities for localities, businesses and investors of both sides to exchange and cooperate. At the same time, he believes that in the spirit of proactiveness, positivity and constructiveness, the cooperative relationship between localities of the two countries will increasingly develop.

Participating in the discussion at the Seminar with the topic: "Strengthening cooperation in trade and investment between Vietnam and Canada". Comrade Nguyen Hong Linh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed: Ha Tinh is one of the top 10 provinces in Vietnam in attracting foreign investment capital. In 2023, Ha Tinh's economic growth will reach 8.05%, with import-export turnover reaching nearly 6 billion USD.

To achieve this result, in addition to the advantages in transportation, human resources, Vung Ang - Son Duong deep-water port, etc., Ha Tinh has made efforts to improve the investment and business environment; issued many mechanisms and policies, creating favorable conditions for businesses and investors.

Ha Tinh commits to creating the most favorable conditions and always accompanying businesses and investors in the process of researching, surveying, establishing and implementing projects in the area.

At the seminar, Vietnamese localities also promoted their potentials and strengths to partners in Canada. At the same time, they participated in discussions on the topics: "Enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Canada"; "Expanding the export of high-quality Vietnamese goods to the Canadian market".

Ha Tinh Provincial Department of Planning and Investment and the Vietnam - Canada Business Association signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment of Ha Tinh province and the Vietnam - Canada Business Association also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the coming time.

In British Columbia, Canada, a delegation from Ha Tinh province and the provinces of Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Ha Nam, Thua Thien Hue and Gia Lai had a working session with the leaders of this province. Mr. Jagrup Brar, Minister of Trade, received and worked with the delegation.
