Currently, in the sea east of the Philippines, there is a newly formed tropical depression. It is forecasted that in the next 1-2 days, it will likely strengthen into a storm with a probability of 70-80% and will move into the northern part of the East Sea on October 19-20.
The Department of Hydrometeorology said that due to the influence of a tropical depression, which is likely to strengthen into a storm, from the afternoon of October 18, the northern and central East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone) will gradually become stronger, and the sea will be rough. At the same time, cold air from the North will flow down, so the storm is likely to weaken at sea.
Since the beginning of the year, the East Sea has seen 11 storms and 4 tropical depressions. Of these, 7 storms directly affected or caused heavy rain and floods in the North and Central regions.
