Binh Dinh promotes cooperation with India in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics
The potential and space for cooperation between Binh Dinh and India is huge but still modest. The Chairman of Binh Dinh province assessed that cooperation in developing artificial intelligence between the two sides is in line with the needs and cooperation strategies.
AI - collaborative strategy
The People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has just coordinated with the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City to organize a conference to promote investment, trade and tourism development with Indian partners in Binh Dinh province. Attending the conference were Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung... along with 40 corporations and enterprises from India.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Secretary of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee Ho Quoc Dung said that the province has determined its vision and future development orientation to be a center of science and technology, innovation, and an important place for applying artificial intelligence in Vietnam; sustainable economic development based on pillars including manufacturing and processing industry, information technology industry and AI...
According to the Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, these areas are all strengths of India. At the same time, the influences and exchanges between Indian and Vietnamese cultures are clearly shown in Binh Dinh.
Therefore, the Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee believes that this is the key to attracting the business community, people, and tourists from India to learn, travel , explore, and seek investment opportunities in Binh Dinh; opening a new stage of development of cooperative relations between Binh Dinh province and Indian businesses and partners...
Regarding recent cooperation, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, said that the potential and space for cooperation between Binh Dinh and India is huge.
However, trade activities between Binh Dinh and India have not been high in recent times (in the first 5 months of 2024, exports to India reached 1.1 million USD). The main products of Binh Dinh province to the Indian market are vegetables and fruits; followed by garment products - this is considered a new product in recent years.
Regarding attracting investment from India, the province has only 4 projects of Indian investors with a total registered investment capital of 3.6 million USD, mainly in the field of agricultural production. Notably, the project of the Chestnut and Walnut Processing Factory of Olam Vietnam Company Limited with an investment capital of 2.6 million USD.
The Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee emphasized that with the inevitable trend of applying artificial intelligence (AI), Binh Dinh province has made a breakthrough in leading the country in forming the first complex of research, production and training centers for technology experts in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, India is also slowly gaining global attention, on track to become an AI hub, especially when it comes to tech talent.
Therefore, the Chairman of Binh Dinh province assessed that "the cooperation in developing the AI field between the two sides is suitable for the needs and cooperation strategy".
The head of Binh Dinh provincial government hopes that in the coming time, the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will support the province in cooperating and connecting Indian businesses to promote and implement trade activities and investment promotion between the two sides.
Lots of room for cooperation
At the conference, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung assessed that the investment cooperation relationship between India and Binh Dinh province in recent times is still modest, not commensurate with the potential and advantages of the parties, when Indian investors currently have 4 investment projects in Binh Dinh.
Meanwhile, there is still a lot of room for investment cooperation in potential sectors, especially in India's strengths such as clean energy, innovation, information technology, digital transformation, healthcare, high-tech agriculture, etc.

However, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment expressed his belief that with its glorious history, unique potential advantages of the land of “heaven and earth”, especially the spirit of overcoming difficulties and self-reliance; Binh Dinh province will truly become a potential destination for foreign investors, including India.
“The Ministry of Planning and Investment is ready to accompany other ministries and sectors to support Binh Dinh in turning the province’s development ideas and determination into reality, and is committed to creating all favorable conditions and coordinating to resolve difficulties and obstacles in the process of researching and implementing investment activities so that Indian enterprises can make successful, sustainable, and long-term investments in Binh Dinh province...”, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment mentioned.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, shared that he had visited Quy Nhon City many times and realized that this place has great potential to develop large and small industries in many fields, including manufacturing.
The Consulate General of India is ready to support connecting Vietnamese businesses with leading Indian corporations in the fields of smart agriculture, aquaculture, infrastructure, information technology, healthcare, education and many other fields; committed to continue its role as a bridge for the business communities of the two countries, facilitating import and export activities and attracting investment from diverse sectors of India to Vietnam.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.
In addition, 4 memorandums of understanding were also signed between associations and enterprises of Binh Dinh province and associations and enterprises of India. These include the memorandum of understanding between the Binh Dinh Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Indian Economic and Trade Organization IETO; the Binh Dinh Tourism Association and the Buddhist Tour Operators Association; the Binh Dinh Timber and Forest Products Association and the Orissa Small Scale Industries Association; Tuong Minh Binh Dinh Software Solutions Company Limited, Quy Nhon University and the Indian Robotics Association.
