Ministry of Public Security investigates state officials covering up and abetting counterfeit goods

Counterfeit goods, counterfeit goods and food safety are issues of great public concern, and are not new issues, but the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security emphasized the new perspective and determination to suppress this crime.

"The Prime Minister assigned a 1-month peak period, but the Ministry of Public Security directed that a 3-month peak period could be opened, starting from May 15, directing all police forces in localities to carry out the task," said Major General Toan.

He said the Ministry of Public Security also participated at the request of the Prime Minister's Working Group in the fight to prevent this situation.

At the same time, the Ministry also consults and perfects institutions, overcomes loopholes and shortcomings in State management, and recommends increasing deterrence and penalties for violations related to the production of counterfeit and fake goods.

According to Major General Toan, the Government also submitted to the National Assembly amendments to the Penal Code in the direction of

increase penalties for certain types of crimes, including the crime of manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods...

Some issues that emerged during the struggle of the Ministry of Public Security were also mentioned by Mr. Toan.

First of all, he affirmed that the activities of smuggling, counterfeiting, banned goods, and poor quality goods are complicated, with some cases being very large-scale and prolonged, and subjects taking full advantage of loopholes in legal regulations to commit violations.

In addition, counterfeit goods are produced and traded in a wide variety of fields such as food, medicine, cosmetics, milk, etc. "This is very dangerous because it not only relates to health and the economy, but also to the quality of the labor force in both the present and the future," the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security emphasized.

He also mentioned the situation of celebrities and prestigious people advertising falsely recently.

In particular, according to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, some incidents and cases have the assistance and cover-up of officials of state management agencies.

Informing about the results, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan said that the Ministry of Public Security has concentrated police forces at all levels and units, implementing a peak period to identify the situation, detect and fight. As a result, from May 15 to June 3, the agencies prosecuted 36 cases and 119 defendants related to the crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods and other acts in 24 localities.

In addition to fighting to clarify the criminal acts of the subjects, Major General Toan affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security will also clarify and handle the criminal acts of some officials in state management agencies.

On the other hand, according to Mr. Toan, the Ministry of Public Security will continue to clarify and handle a number of acts related to false advertising.

Regarding the direction for the coming time, Mr. Toan said that the Ministry of Public Security will continue to direct the police of units and localities to carry out a 3-month peak to deeply and thoroughly evaluate this content, in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction to do it regularly, continuously, and resolutely fight against crimes related to the production and trade of counterfeit goods; continue to clarify violations by officials of state management agencies, if any; the responsibility of famous people who advertise falsely on social networks...

The Ministry of Public Security will also continue to speed up the investigation and handling of prosecuted cases with the spirit of expanding the handling of related subjects, clarifying the causes and conditions of crimes and making recommendations to overcome loopholes in State management.

Emphasizing the spirit of the Prime Minister's telegram, Mr. Toan said the Ministry of Public Security determined that this is a long-term, regular task, requiring the participation of local authorities at all levels and especially the participation of the people, creating synchronization and continuity to condemn, repel, and fight against these very dangerous acts.

The Ministry of Public Security also recommends that people be vigilant against false advertisements, cheap, miracle products, and promptly report to authorities for timely investigation and handling.

On the other hand, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security expects delegates to support increasing sanctions against certain types of dangerous crimes commensurate with the nature and level of danger of the behavior, thereby increasing the level of deterrence and establishing discipline and order in this field.
