Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard: Half a century of defending the border, sticking with the people

At the ceremony, Colonel Do Vinh Thang - Party Secretary and Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard - read a speech reviewing the 50-year journey of formation and development of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard, recognizing the great contributions of officers and soldiers in the cause of protecting sovereignty and border security.

On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense sent a congratulatory letter to the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard force.

In the letter, General Phan Van Giang expressed that after 50 years of building, fighting and growing, under the leadership, direction and enthusiastic support of all levels, the close and effective coordination of agencies and units inside and outside the army, generations of officers, professional soldiers, defense workers and civil servants, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard have promoted the good nature and glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army in all missions.

At the same time, actively participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, contributing positively to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

"I warmly commend and praise the achievements, progress and maturity of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard. I hope that in the new revolutionary period, you will continue to promote the achievements you have made, promote the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, and excellently complete all tasks...", the content of the letter of commendation from General Phan Van Giang clearly stated.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Ngoc Hai highly appreciated the role of the border guard force in participating in building a strong people's border defense posture, closely attached to the people, especially in preventing smuggling, trade fraud, rescue and fighting crime.

Within the framework of the program, many artistic performances recreating the image of brave border soldiers, close to the people, for the people were elaborately staged, leaving a strong impression in the hearts of viewers.

In addition, the organizing committee also commended and awarded certificates of merit to outstanding groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in performing their tasks.

50 years of steadfastness on the border front line

Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan - Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard - said: "After 50 years of establishment and development, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard has overcome numerous difficulties, successfully completing the task of protecting sovereignty and security in the maritime border area and port gates.

From the initial 62 officers and soldiers, the force has continuously grown, doing a good job of advising and closely coordinating with local authorities and people, promoting procedural reform, and applying technology in immigration control.

Faced with new mission requirements, the city's border guards continue to thoroughly grasp the central government's resolutions and directives, innovate organization, modernize management, promote heroic traditions, build a comprehensive and strong force, meet the requirements of firmly protecting territorial sovereignty, maintaining security and order, and developing the economy of Ho Chi Minh City in the integration period.
