Before the program, the delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs of the divisions who heroically sacrificed their lives, creating the legendary Truong Son.
At the ceremony, cadres and members of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association reviewed together the great historical value of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the 66th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, the Truong Son Troops' Traditional Day, especially the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, liberating the South and unifying the country.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Major General Vo So, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditions, emphasized: The historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign was a complete victory, liberating the South. The Truong Son troops participating in the Campaign successfully completed an extremely important task: Securing bridges and roads and mobilizing main force troops at lightning speed to promptly carry out the largest combined arms offensive campaign in the history of the national liberation war.
With outstanding efforts, creative command and experience in joint operations, Truong Son troops contributed greatly to creating the mobile strength and strong attack capability of the main army corps to achieve the final victory of the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country.
“Looking back 50 years, we are even more proud of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Association of Vietnam, a meaningful historical link between the Truong Son Troops of yesterday and today. Promoting the nature and tradition of “turning nothing into something, turning difficult into easy”, “continuously attacking, continuously attacking” of the Truong Son Troops, after 14 years of establishment and development, the Truong Son Association of Vietnam has been writing new Truong Son miracles, contributing to the construction and development of the country today”, Major General Vo So emphasized.
Since its establishment in 2011, with only more than 100,000 members, the Association now has nearly 302,000 members nationwide. The Association has mobilized all resources for more than 300 billion VND, helping comrades build more than 3,000 gratitude houses, repairing hundreds of houses for comrades; giving hundreds of thousands of gratitude gifts to comrades in difficulty; giving more than 3,500 warm blankets, publishing more than 320 books of all kinds... In 2024 alone, the entire Association mobilized all resources for more than 22.6 billion VND to serve the Association's activities effectively and do charity work in Truong Son...
At the program, the Vietnam Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association honored 38 groups and individuals who have made positive contributions to the Association's work; and presented gifts to members in difficult circumstances.
