The Ministry of Finance has recently sent document No. 19035/BTX-NSNN to the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of Dak Lak province, requesting the Government to continue paying attention to the policy of giving gifts to the people during the Lunar New Year and other major national holidays.

The Ministry of Finance stated that annually, on important national holidays and festivals, the President issues policies on giving gifts to people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution (Decision No. 1301/QD-TTg, dated November 27, 2024, on giving gifts to people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, Decision No. 1583/QD-CTN, dated December 26, 2023, on giving gifts to some individuals who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024...), and on the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025, on giving gifts on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), Decision No. 590/QD-CTN dated...). June 25, 2024, regarding the giving of gifts on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024).

In 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Reunification of the Country, and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), on April 23, 2025, the President issued Decision No. 689/QD-CTN on awarding gifts to people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, at a rate of 500,000 VND per person.

On the occasion of National Day on September 2nd, the Party and State also decided to give gifts to all citizens at a rate of 100,000 VND per person, as a token of gratitude and to share the joy on this important holiday.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the issuance of policies in general and the giving of gifts to the people in particular are carried out on the basis of the Party's guidelines, the Government 's directives, and the annual state budget balance.

Therefore, the Ministry of Finance receives feedback from voters and coordinates with relevant ministries and agencies to advise and report to competent authorities when budget resources are secured.

According to the latest announcement from the Ministry of Interior, the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 will consist of 5 days as stipulated (1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet), from Monday, February 16, 2026 (29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake) to Friday, February 20, 2026 (4th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Horse). Due to the two consecutive weekend days off, civil servants and employees will have 9 consecutive days off.

For employees outside the civil service, businesses can choose their own holiday options: 1 day at the end of the year + 4 days at the beginning of the year; or 2 days at the end of the year + 3 days at the beginning of the year; or 3 days at the end of the year + 2 days at the beginning of the year.

Employers must notify employees of holiday schedules at least 30 days in advance. If a public holiday coincides with a weekly day off, employees are entitled to compensatory leave as stipulated in the Labor Code. Businesses are encouraged to provide employees with leave similar to that of civil servants or to agree on a more convenient arrangement.
