The Minister of National Defence met with and encouraged the Thể Công - Viettel Football Club.

On the afternoon of December 16th, during a meeting to encourage military sports teams with outstanding achievements in 2025, General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense - encouraged the The Cong - Viettel men's football club.

On the afternoon of December 16th, at the Viettel Sports Center (Hanoi), the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to meet with and encourage military sports teams that achieved high results in 2025.

Attending and directing the meeting were General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, and other leaders of the Ministry of National Defense.

The meeting and motivational activity aimed to report on the outstanding achievements in training and competition of the military's sports forces over the past year. It also acknowledged and encouraged athletes and coaches, and spread the spirit of training and competition within military sports.

As part of the program, General Phan Van Giang took the time to meet with and encourage the The Cong - Viettel Club right at the team's training ground.

The Minister visited and held discussions with the coaching staff, players, and representatives from various professional departments to understand the team's training, competition, and management and development activities.

In addition to the football team, the Minister also presented gifts to encourage the five youth teams of The Cong - Viettel, the next generation tasked with preserving traditions and laying the foundation for long-term development goals. This activity demonstrates the special attention of the Ministry of National Defense leadership to youth training, considering it the "root" for building sustainable strength for military sports in general and The Cong football team in particular.

Representatives of The Cong - Viettel Club also respectfully presented the Minister with a trophy, jerseys, and a signed football, expressing their deep gratitude for the timely attention, guidance, and encouragement given to the team. The club also expressed its determination to compete for the V-League championship not only this season but also in subsequent seasons.

In the 2024-2025 season, The Cong - Viettel won the bronze medal in the National Cup and finished 4th in the V-League. With their military-inspired identity, The Cong - Viettel consistently ranks among the top contenders for the championship in professional leagues.

From 2020 to the present, on average, The Cong - Viettel Club has contributed 30 to 35% of players to the national teams each year. Over the past six years, The Cong - Viettel has been the largest contributor of athletes of all age groups to Vietnamese football.

The Cong - Viettel is consistently recognized as one of the leading football training centers in the country, making a practical contribution to the successes and development of Vietnamese football today.
