On the morning of March 27, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee visited, congratulated and worked with the Department of Physical Training and Sports on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Sports Industry (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2024).
Meeting and encouraging officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the sports sector who are attending the Sports Festival to celebrate the Traditional Day at the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Minister Nguyen Van Hung sent his best wishes to generations of leaders, officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers who have been and are working in the sector, wishing the sports sector to perform its tasks well to achieve many achievements in the coming time. 
Looking back at the half-term implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, especially the Politburo 's specialized Resolution on developing physical training and sports in the new period, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the sports industry has made great strides.
In particular, the good news is that sports for everyone have had a profound development, operated through the Movement for the whole people to exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho. Since then, every Vietnamese person has chosen for themselves a suitable sport to practice, to improve their health every day. Approaching the viewpoint "Strong people, prosperous country" of President Ho Chi Minh . 
Through the sports movement for all, we have had a source of supply, discovered many talents for high-performance sports to focus on training and coaching. From there, we have a good force of athletes participating in international competitions, achieving many achievements.
"Initially, Vietnamese sports have also affirmed their position in the international arena, which is a very encouraging sign. The achievements and contributions of the industry have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, State and People," said the Minister, adding that the success had a great contribution from those directly involved in sports.
However, in addition to the achievements, the Minister also pointed out the limitations and shortcomings of the sports industry and clarified the causes of those limitations. The Minister asked those working in state management of sports to seriously consider and develop solutions. 
The Minister suggested that immediately after the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Sports Industry, the leaders of the sports industry and the entire industry must immediately start working on and soon complete the following tasks:
Firstly, it is necessary to widely implement Conclusion 70 of the Politburo on the development of Physical Training and Sports in the new period throughout the industry.
Besides, it is necessary to actively follow up, soon complete and submit to competent authorities for approval the Sports Development Strategy in the coming time.
Second, the Minister requested the entire industry to further promote the viewpoint of shifting thinking from doing sports to state management of sports.
The Department of Physical Training and Sports needs to more clearly define its role in state management of sports; promote its role in guiding and supervising sports activities nationwide.
The Department also needs to coordinate well and clearly define functions and powers with Federations and Sports Associations to effectively coordinate and implement work. At the same time, promote the role of analysis and forecasting, see strategic directions for advice.

Third, the Minister requested the Department of Physical Training and Sports to reorganize its staff, promote the spirit of innovation, dare to think, dare to do, dare to decide, dare to choose difficult tasks to do; maximize democracy but at the same time must see one's own responsibility.
Fourth, the Department of Physical Education and Sports needs to strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent violations, especially at National Sports Training Centers in training, coaching, and investment in a focused and key direction; proactively and better do the communication work of the Sports sector.
