Ministry of Health guides campaign to supplement vitamin A combined with deworming for children

The Ministry of Health has just issued Official Dispatch 2908/BYT-PB to organize the first campaign to supplement vitamin A combined with deworming for children in 2025.

According to the Ministry of Health , the campaign to supplement Vitamin A for children from 6 months to under 60 months old combined with deworming for children from 24 months to under 60 months old in disadvantaged provinces and supplement Vitamin A for children from 6 months to under 36 months old in the remaining provinces/cities is organized regularly twice a year.

To ensure that the first phase of the Vitamin A supplementation campaign combined with deworming for children (June 2025) is organized safely and effectively, the Ministry of Health requests the Department of Health of centrally-run provinces and cities and units to implement the Campaign from June 1, 2025.

The Ministry of Health noted that localities receiving vitamin A before June 1, 2025 will organize the campaign on June 1-2, 2025. The remaining provinces and cities will implement the campaign immediately after receiving vitamin A.

Regarding the content of the implementation in the Campaign: Supplementing high doses of Vitamin A for children from 6 months to under 60 months old in 31 provinces where the rate of child malnutrition is still high; Supplementing high doses of Vitamin A for children from 6 months to under 36 months old in the remaining 32 provinces/cities. Deworming for children from 24 to under 60 months old in 22 disadvantaged provinces.

Regarding the implementation of the Campaign, the Ministry of Health recommends that the Campaign be implemented according to plan, ensuring adequate vitamin A and deworming medicine, ensuring hygiene and following professional instructions; Complying with safety rules during the implementation of the Campaign.

The Institute of Nutrition is responsible for ensuring sufficient vitamin A supply to provinces and cities; developing plans and providing professional guidance; organizing guidance for provinces and cities to implement the Vitamin A Campaign according to plan; synthesizing results and reporting to the Ministry of Health (Department of Disease Prevention) according to regulations.

The Central Institute of Malaria, Parasitology and Entomology is responsible for ensuring sufficient quantities of deworming medicine for provinces and cities; developing a plan for professional guidance, organizing guidance on the implementation of deworming medicine for children according to the plan; synthesizing results and reporting to the Ministry of Health (Department of Disease Prevention) according to regulations...

The Ministry of Health also requested provinces and cities to step up propaganda on micronutrient deficiency prevention, integrating micronutrient deficiency prevention with healtheducation and communication activities./.
