Golden Lotus, a book about Uncle Ho's childhood meets readers again

Towards the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the Truth National Political Publishing House republished the book Golden Lotus by writer Son Tung. This is one of his famous works about President Ho Chi Minh's childhood.

You are the ones who bear the responsibility of the next century.

With deep affection and respect for Uncle Ho, writer Son Tung has deeply analyzed and clarified the extremely vivid and rich childhood of President Ho Chi Minh, especially the years he lived with his parents and brother in the capital Hue .

Readers see that when Uncle Ho was a young boy, Nguyen Sinh Con, his parents trained him to be studious, diligent, thrifty, upright, fair, humble and altruistic... and above all, had valuable perceptions and thoughts about the Fatherland.

In the chapter Father's Story , after testing his children on Patriotism, Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac, father of President Ho Chi Minh, said: "You were born during a time of turmoil in this century.

But you are the ones who bear the responsibility of the next century. There are only a few years left until the twentieth century. Your parents will do their best to ensure that you study. Only by studying can you understand, and only by understanding can you have the capital to make a living."

The sayings of Nguyen Sinh Sac help readers partly understand the importance of education and knowledge to form a great personality of the era.

Making the most of the dialogue and narrative forms, Golden Lotus fully and authentically depicts the process of personality formation from childhood of the beloved leader, whose original cradle was family tradition.

Please don't call me uncle.

When explaining the passage "The nation, the people's continent" to "the small country has the ability to be proud to exist" in the poem "Love of the Nation" , the young boy Nguyen Sinh Con explained:

"The Fatherland is a boat, the people are on that boat. The benefits and harms of the Fatherland are the joys and worries of the people. If everyone thinks only of their own interests, does not take the country's interests as important or tries to destroy them, then what is the country and the people?"

Reading up to here, readers see President Ho Chi Minh's profound thoughts about the Fatherland from when he was a young boy following Him until he became the great leader of the Vietnamese people.

One of the typical works of writer Son Tung is the novel Blue Lotus, written about the life of President Ho Chi Minh.

Thanks to the virtues of humility, simplicity, and respect for elders passed down from his parents, the boy Nguyen Sinh Con always lived in the affection of his neighbors. In the book, readers encounter sincere moments such as when he talked with Mr. Pho Trang - a kind-hearted single neighbor:

"Uncle, I have something to tell you. Please don't call me uncle or address yourself as I. You call me nephew or address yourself as uncle or my brother Khiem anymore."

This surprised Mr. Trang when he was a child, the son of a famous bachelor and teacher, but treated and lived like a commoner with all the neighbors.

The Golden Lotus also recreates the simple, peaceful moments of Uncle Ho when he was living comfortably with his parents with a simple meal and then had to go through a tragic incident - his mother and younger brother passed away.

Through the ups and downs, readers learn more about childhood friends such as Ms. Hanh, Mr. Tuan, Mr. Ky, Mr. Quang... who accompanied Him through the happy and sad years.

Writer Son Tung has many works about leader Ho Chi Minh and other Vietnamese revolutionary and cultural celebrities, the most famous of which is the novel Blue Lotus about the life of President Ho Chi Minh.

He was awarded the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation Period by President Nguyen Minh Triet on July 14, 2011.
