Defender Pham Ly Duc praised the training spirit of Vietnamese-American newcomer Bui Alex after the first training day of the Vietnam U22 team.

"From my observation, Bui Alex trains with great determination. I hope you always maintain that spirit. Alex can speak Vietnamese, so communication on and off the field is very easy," center-back Pham Ly Duc shared at the training session on the afternoon of May 31st.

The player added: "The Vietnam U22 team has only had 1.5 training sessions so far. Therefore, I cannot comment on the abilities of the overseas Vietnamese players yet."

Bui Alex is a new recruit for the Vietnam U22 team in the second training camp of 2025. Similar to Viktor Le, Alex plays as a midfielder and forward. He is described as having a technical playing style, but has only played in the lower leagues of the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Viktor is in his third V-League season. And he made an impression on the Vietnam U22 coaching staff at the CFA Team China friendly tournament in March, with 1 assist in 3 starts.

When asked about his physical condition, center-back Pham Ly Duc also said that he is in good shape and ready to compete for a position in the defense of the Vietnam U22 team. In July, the team will compete in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship finals in Indonesia.

"After two months of rehabilitation, my health is very good. My leg can function normally," Ly Duc said.

Ly Duc has not yet joined the Vietnamese national team for training.

Pham Ly Duc and Dang Van Toi are two defenders who have been called up to the Vietnamese national team as reinforcements following injuries to Bui Hoang Viet Anh and Nguyen Thanh Binh.

However, at the training session on the afternoon of May 31st, Ly Duc had not yet received instructions from coach Kim Sang Sik and continued to train with the Vietnam U22 team. Back in March, he was a newcomer to the Vietnam national team.

The Vietnamese national team's squad is still incomplete. That afternoon, coach Kim had to promote goalkeeper Cao Văn Bình from the U22 team to train with Trần Trung Kiên. This was because Nguyễn Filip had not yet joined the national team, and Nguyễn Đình Triệu was unexpectedly absent.
