Ca Mau: Identifying strategic products for investment in science and technology

At the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, gave a quick report on Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and some recommendations for Ca Mau province.

After conveying some core contents, guiding viewpoints, and new points of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan had a recommendation for Ca Mau province.

Accordingly, the province urgently identifies local strategic products to be associated with strategic science and technology investment. There should be policies to encourage enterprises to invest in science and technology, innovation and commercialization of research results. There should be policies to attract and develop high-quality human resources. Select a number of priority programs and build a provincial science and technology program.

Regarding digital transformation, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan also recommended that Ca Mau province needs to digitize data, review and re-evaluate the infrastructure to be ready and meet the digital transformation work. Try to classify what is the work of the Central Government and what is the work of Ca Mau province, avoiding doing the same thing twice. Doing this will save effort and money. The province needs to evaluate the capacity and use of digital transformation of the people to have a suitable direction.

“The implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW needs to be synchronized from the central to local levels. The implementation method needs to focus on businesses and people,” Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan emphasized.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai said that the province has established a Steering Committee on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation development, with a working group. However, there are still some confusions in the implementation process, especially in identifying strengths, outstanding points, and methods to overcome difficulties.

Therefore, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai requested the Working Group to refine the content and recommendations of Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan. After the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the Provincial Steering Committee on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation will meet (3rd session). In which, specific contents will be determined to achieve results this year.

“Cadres and party members need to continue to research, contribute, advise and propose practical solutions to promote the role of science, technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the socio -economic development of the province,” emphasized Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai.
