The total estimated capacity of 83 tile factories is 831 million m2/year. Including 57 ceramic tile factories, total capacity of 600 million m2/year; 21 granite tile factories, total capacity of 200 million m2/year and 5 cotto tile factories, total capacity of 31 million m2/year.

The total investment in these factories is up to 4 billion USD. Of which, 65% of the capital comes from domestic banks and state capital. Compared with other countries in the world , statistics in 2018 show that Vietnam's tile output reached 602 million m2, ranking 4th in the world.

However, due to the narrowing output, from 2020 until now, many factories have only been able to operate at 50-60% capacity. The production and business situation at many units has encountered many difficulties.

In 2023, the production output of ceramic tiles will only reach 360 million m2, equivalent to about 45% of the total design capacity. By 2024, it is estimated that in the first 6 months of the year, the output will only reach 185 million m2, equivalent to the same period.

Several years ago, the Ministry of Construction also warned manufacturing enterprises in the fields of cement, ceramic tiles, and construction glass about the situation of oversupply and consumption lower than production.
