Singer Huynh De in the final round of Miss Global Peace Businesswoman 2025 in Hue City,
In the context of traditional Vietnamese performing arts facing significant challenges due to fading, oblivion and the fierce flow of contemporary culture, finding young people with enough heart and ability to continue the legacy of their ancestors has become an urgent mission.
Therefore, the nomination of singer Huynh De as Chief Representative of the Center for Preservation of Traditional Vietnamese Performing Arts in Ho Chi Minh City is not only good news for the art world, but also an optimistic signal for a hopeful transfer of responsibility.
The decision was made by People's Artist Thanh Ngoan - Director of the Center - who has devoted his life to the art of Cheo and other traditional art forms.
In 2008, she went to Ho Chi Minh City, performed traditional arts with People's Artist Bach Tuyet and created a buzz. She has been in the profession for 44 years, holding the role of director of the Vietnamese Cheo Theater.
She successfully defended her PhD thesis on Traditional Arts at the National Institute of Culture and Arts in 2020. From 2022, she will retire and take on a new role: Director of the Center for Preservation of Traditional Vietnamese Performing Arts.
Singer Huynh De performed the song "Continue writing the story of peace" at the final round of "Miss Global Peace Entrepreneur 2025" in Hue City.
People's Artist Thanh Ngoan highly appreciated singer Huynh De's organizational thinking, networking ability, and sincere love for traditional music . For her, this is not just an administrative appointment, but a message of responsibility to preserve and spread the national cultural heritage to today's and future generations.
"Vietnamese traditional performing arts are priceless treasures, crystallized from thousands of years of history and the unique identity of the nation. From ca tru, cheo, tuong, cai luong to hat xoan, quan ho... each art form carries the breath of the country, the love of homeland and the desire to live of the Vietnamese people," - singer Huynh De shared when accepting the assignment.
As a young singer who studied vocal music under the guidance of Meritorious Artist Pham The Vi, Huynh De is no stranger to audiences in Ho Chi Minh City. He has participated in many specialized art programs, especially recently the final night of "Miss Global Peace Businesswoman 2025" in Hue City, where he moved people with the song "Continuing the story of peace" by musician Nguyen Van Chung.
The performance was not only a part of the program, but also became a spiritual highlight - an artistic approach that was topical, inspiring and affirmed Vietnamese cultural identity in an international event.
"I will do my best to fulfill the assigned tasks, bringing the Center's activities in Ho Chi Minh City in the right direction: preserving - conserving - spreading. For me, art is not only performance but also responsibility for national culture," he said.
Singer Huynh De made a beautiful impression at the "Miss Global Peace Businesswoman 2025" contest in Hue City.
Not stopping at being a singer, Huynh De is currently the Deputy General Director of GAC Motor Tan Son Nhat, a place he calls "a material support" so that he can devote himself more deeply to traditional art without being limited by financial barriers.
It is the combination of artistic passion and business acumen that has given him a solid position to implement cultural preservation strategies in the most vibrant city in the country.
As the Center's Chief Representative in Ho Chi Minh City, Huynh De affirmed that he will work with artists, researchers and the young generation to implement practical projects: organizing regular performances, connecting schools, businesses and communities, arousing love for hát bội, cải lương and folk songs among the young generation - at the same time creating a "cultural playground" so that traditional arts not only survive but also live up to the spirit of the times.
With the support of the Center, dedicated artists, and above all a heart full of love for national culture, Huynh De has the right to expect a long, durable and proud journey.
He is not only "continuing the story of peace", but also continuing the story of traditional values - so that they do not fade in the digital age, but shine brighter in the sky of Vietnamese culture today.
