Vietnam's largest sturgeon is offered at a price during Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025

Weighing up to 50 kg and raised for 15 years, the Siberian sturgeon of Duong Yen Cooperative is attracting the attention of consumers and visitors to Lai Chau. This product will be connected for consumption during the 2025 Vietnamese Agricultural Products Week, taking place on October 24-25 in Hanoi, marking the locality's efforts in promoting the potential of aquatic products in the northern mountainous region.

The highlight of the 2025 Vietnam Agricultural Products Week is the connection and consumption session of sturgeon, a familiar product in the meals of many Vietnamese families, but introduced in a new way, associated with practical experience activities. At the event, delegates and visitors will be able to directly admire, participate in bidding and have the opportunity to own a 50 kg Siberian sturgeon, the largest sturgeon in fish farms in Lai Chau in particular and Vietnam in general today.

Siberian sturgeon will be connected and consumed at Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025.

This “record” fish comes from Duong Yen Cooperative (Lai Chau), a unit with more than 12 years of experience in cold-water fish farming, supplying over 20 tons of high-quality sturgeon to the market each year. The cooperative representative said that Siberian sturgeon only grows well in cold-water fish environments, where the temperature is maintained at a stable 18 - 22 degrees Celsius, ideal conditions to help the fish meat to be firm, sweet and rich in its characteristic flavor.

Normally, a sturgeon must be cared for for nearly two years to reach an average weight of 2 - 3 kg. Therefore, to have a "giant" sturgeon weighing up to 50 kg, Duong Yen Cooperative has meticulously raised it for 15 years, considering it a "treasure" of the cold waters of Lai Chau. The appearance of this special sturgeon promises to become a unique highlight at the 2025 Vietnam Agricultural Products Week.

In order for the Siberian sturgeon to reach a weight of 50 kg, Duong Yen Cooperative has taken care of and raised it for 15 years.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Director of Duong Yen Cooperative, said that all the money from selling Siberian sturgeon at the 2025 Vietnam Agricultural Products Exhibition Week will be used by the unit to maintain, raise and breed Beluga sturgeon, a rare fish breed with large weight and high nutritional value. In particular, Beluga sturgeon eggs cost millions of VND per tael.

According to the leader of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), choosing sturgeon as the focal product of Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025 is not only because it is an essential, nutritious food, but also because the image of sturgeon has long been considered a symbol of abundance, perseverance and prosperity.

At the event, the Sturgeon connection and consumption session is expected to have the participation of many businesses, distributors and visitors. This activity brings new experiences, at the same time contributes to promoting the image of Vietnamese agricultural products in a modern, professional direction, demonstrating the close connection between production and consumption market.
