Opportunities for cooperation between Gujarat state, India and Vietnam are opening up

On the occasion of attending the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit taking place in Gujarat, India from January 9-12, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang received Mr. Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat on the afternoon of January 11.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang expressed his pleasure to visit India and Gujarat state, the homeland of the great leader Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi; and thanked the Chief Minister and the Government of Gujarat state for the warm welcome given to the Vietnamese delegation.

The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Gujarat state in organizing the Conference, making the event “Vibrant Gujarat” a brand of the state, attracting increasing attention from international leaders and businesses.

Appreciating the information provided by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel about the potential and strengths of Gujarat, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that cooperation opportunities between Gujarat and Vietnam are opening up, especially since the direct flight between Gujarat and two major cities of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, will be launched in November 2022, with a frequency of 14 flights/week; many corporations headquartered in Gujarat have plans to invest in Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel continue to pay attention to promoting relations between Gujarat and Vietnam, including increasing delegation exchanges; improving the effectiveness of economic, trade and investment cooperation commensurate with the stature of the two countries' relations; promoting negotiations to increase the frequency of direct flights between the two countries and with Gujarat; and strengthening cooperation between localities of the two countries, including Gujarat considering establishing cooperative relations with major cities of Vietnam.

The Chief Minister of Gujarat expressed his pleasure to welcome Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang to attend this Conference; expressed his interest in the information shared by the Deputy Prime Minister about the situation in Vietnam, especially the fact that Vietnam has mechanisms and policies to create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, including those from India, to invest and do business long-term in Vietnam, especially in areas where Vietnam has demand such as energy, infrastructure, seaports, oil and gas, innovation, green economy, digital economy, digital transformation, etc.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that Gujarat state is located in an important geographical position in the Asia-Middle East-Europe connectivity infrastructure cooperation project, so the potential for cooperation and investment opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises in Gujarat state is huge.

At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister invited Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel to visit Vietnam to explore opportunities and potential for cooperation, and the Prime Minister happily accepted the invitation.
