Vietnam is an active and responsible member of APEC.

On the afternoon of October 29 local time, President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation arrived in Busan (South Korea), starting the program to attend the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week and hold bilateral meetings in Korea at the invitation of Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

Deepen bilateral relations with partners

With the theme "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow" and three main priorities of Connectivity, Innovation and Prosperity, the APEC 2025 Summit Week is expected to be an important forum for APEC leaders to maintain dialogue, strengthen trust, and enhance cooperation to seek solutions to economic and trade challenges, promote innovation and sustainable, inclusive development in the region.

Attending this conference is also an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the image of a dynamic economy, deeply integrated and always accompanying the region towards the goal of "Connection - Innovation - Prosperity"; at the same time, affirming Vietnam's role as an active, responsible and increasingly proactive member in shaping the regional cooperation structure, preparing for hosting APEC 2027.

Within the framework of the APEC Summit Week, the President is expected to have meetings with many leaders of APEC economies, meet with leaders of the world's leading corporations and businesses, thereby contributing to deepening bilateral relations with partners, mobilizing resources to serve the country's socio-economic development goals. In particular, the President will attend, dialogue and deliver an important speech at the APEC Business Summit 2025.

That same evening, President Luong Cuong attended a dinner party welcoming leaders attending the APEC 2025 Summit hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

President meets with US President and leaders of some APEC members

On October 29, President Luong Cuong met with US President Donald Trump. The two leaders highly appreciated the positive results of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times; agreed to continue to coordinate closely to develop the bilateral relationship in depth, substance, stability and sustainability, in accordance with the interests of the two peoples, making positive contributions to peace, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.

The President congratulated the US on its achievements under the leadership of President Donald Trump and appreciated the President’s role in promoting conflict resolution and peace restoration in some regions of the world in recent times. Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge, supporting the search for sustainable solutions to conflicts in accordance with international law.

The President suggested that the two sides soon complete negotiations on a reciprocal trade agreement in a mutually beneficial manner on the basis of the recent Joint Statement, taking into account Vietnam's characteristics and the importance of the bilateral relationship, while promoting cooperation in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, science - technology, national defense - security, people-to-people exchange, and overcoming the consequences of war...

The US President affirmed that he attached great importance to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam; highly appreciated Vietnam's increasing role and position as well as its efforts in reform, opening up, integration and strong economic innovation.

President Trump welcomed Vietnam to import key US products. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. The US leader affirmed his support for ASEAN's central role and highly appreciated Vietnam's contributions to regional and international issues.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong extended an invitation from Vietnam's top leaders to President Trump and his wife to visit Vietnam soon. President Trump expressed his good impression of his two visits to Vietnam in 2017 and 2019; and promised to arrange to visit Vietnam.

President Luong Cuong also had a brief meeting with the Prime Ministers of Canada, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. The leaders all highly appreciated Vietnam’s development in all aspects in recent times as well as its increasing international role.

President Luong Cuong and other leaders affirmed the importance of promoting substantive and comprehensive development of bilateral relations in the coming time, as well as strengthening close coordination and actively participating in cooperation processes at multilateral mechanisms and forums, including APEC and ASEAN, contributing to stability, peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
