On the afternoon of October 30, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung directly inspected the landslide situation, visited and encouraged people affected by floods in Quang Ngai province, a locality that suffered heavy damage in the recent floods.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung inspected the landslide site in Thanh Bong commune, where rocks and soil spilled onto the road, affecting people's lives and travel. At the scene, the Deputy Prime Minister visited and encouraged the affected households, sharing the difficulties and losses caused by the natural disaster.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested local authorities and functional forces to urgently fix and open temporary roads, ensure traffic safety, and soon restore connections between communes.

In Tay Tra Bong commune, the Deputy Prime Minister visited Huong Tra Kindergarten No. 1, where 60 households are being evacuated due to landslides in Tra Bong district. The Deputy Prime Minister kindly visited and encouraged people to stay at home and take care of their health, while directing the locality to ensure adequate food, clean water, electricity and essential necessities for people during the evacuation period.

The Deputy Prime Minister shared: "This year's floods caused great damage to the Central provinces, especially Hue, Da Nang , and Quang Ngai. On behalf of the Government, I would like to deeply share the losses and difficulties of the people."

Through on-site inspection, the Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the situation in Quang Ngai was very serious, with many serious landslides, damaged houses, and large areas of crops damaged.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung commended the proactive and determined spirit of Quang Ngai province in responding to and overcoming the consequences of floods.

The Deputy Prime Minister asked localities to continue to closely monitor the weather situation, not to be subjective, and at the same time review disaster prevention plans and evacuate residents from dangerous areas to minimize damage in the coming time.

Right at Huong Tra Kindergarten No. 1, where households are being evacuated, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the leaders of Quang Ngai province and communes on urgent tasks to overcome the consequences of floods.

Accordingly, in the face of great damage, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung requested Quang Ngai province to focus on immediately implementing 4 urgent tasks:

Firstly, do not let people go hungry or cold, ensure adequate supply of food, clean water, and essential necessities for people in temporary shelters and isolated areas.

Second, urgently fix nearly 200 landslides, mobilize maximum human resources and vehicles, soon clear traffic routes, and ensure safe travel for people.

Third, support people to restore production, especially providing plant varieties, livestock, and agricultural materials to help people soon stabilize their livelihoods.

Fourth, survey and plan safe resettlement areas, relocate people from areas at risk of landslides and frequent flooding, to ensure long-term safety.

The Deputy Prime Minister praised the Quang Ngai provincial government for proactively evacuating people in a timely manner, thereby preventing any human casualties. He also asked the province not to be subjective, to continue reviewing high-risk areas, and to prepare response plans in case new situations arise.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highly appreciated the proactive and determined spirit of Quang Ngai province in responding and relocating people; at the same time, he suggested that the province should continue to promote and focus resources to restore production and stabilize people's lives.

The water has receded, but there are still many landslides on traffic.

According to a report from Quang Ngai province, on the night of October 29 and early morning of October 30, there was still rain in the area, with rainfall ranging from 30-80 mm, concentrated in the eastern and mountainous areas, but the intensity had significantly decreased compared to the previous day.

At 6:00 a.m. on October 30, the water level of Tra Khuc River at Tra Khuc Bridge reached 5.47 m (0.47 m higher than alarm level 2); Tra Bong River at Chau O was 3.78 m (0.28 m higher than alarm level 2); Ve River at Song Ve was 3.99 m (0.49 m higher than alarm level 2). Other rivers were at or below alarm level 1.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, water levels on rivers continue to decrease.

Previously, on October 29, the whole province had more than 5,200 households flooded from 0.3 to 1.5 meters deep, concentrated in Phuoc Giang, Binh Minh and Binh Chuong communes. By this morning, the water had receded, no more households were flooded, only localized flooding of 0.2 to 0.4 meters remained on some traffic routes in Tra Bong and old Nghia Hanh districts.

The whole province currently has 170 landslides, with rocks and soil spilling onto the road surface on National Highways 14C, 24, 24B, 24C, 40B and Provincial Roads 622B, 622C, 623, 624, 626, 628...; about 80 inter-commune roads have been eroded and damaged, causing local isolation, especially in mountainous areas.
