As part of the working visit coinciding with General Secretary To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation's official visit to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao – Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of HDBank , Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet – along with the HDBank leadership delegation, visited and worked at the London Stock Exchange (LSE), one of the oldest and largest financial centers in the world.

The delegation, led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Chairman of the Board of Directors of HDBank Kim Byoungho, included leaders from HDBank, Vietjet, and Vikki Digital Bank. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Charlie Walker, Vice President of the LSE, who directly introduced the scale, operations, and cooperation opportunities between the London Capital Market and Vietnamese businesses.
Promoting opportunities for international fundraising and listing partnerships.
The visit took place at a time when Vietnam and the UK announced the upgrading of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening up many opportunities for extensive cooperation in the fields of finance, investment, and technology.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao stated: "Vietnam is aiming for GDP growth of over 10% annually after 2026, creating a huge need for long-term capital mobilization. We expect to expand cooperation with the London capital market through flexible forms such as dual listing, international bond issuance, or other financial instruments – to meet the sustainable growth needs of Vietnamese businesses."
LSE leaders expressed their appreciation for Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao's sharing, affirming their readiness to accompany and support Vietnamese businesses such as HDBank, Vietjet, and Vikki Digital Bank in accessing global capital markets, opening up effective and attractive fundraising channels for international investors.
The global vision of Vietnamese businesses
The London Stock Exchange currently has over 1,600 international companies listed and is the world's leading bond issuer with a market size of approximately US$34 trillion. Two major Vietnamese investment funds – VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund (VOF) and Vietnam Enterprise Investments Limited (VEIL) – are also listed there.

In her role as the leader of two leading listed companies on the HOSE, HDBank and Vietjet, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao shared plans to expand the listing of more companies within the ecosystem, including consumer finance, securities, aviation finance, and logistics.
With a return on equity (ROE) of 20%–25%, she believes that if Vietnamese businesses can securitize and list internationally, it will strongly attract global capital flows and contribute to revitalizing the London financial market.
"We aspire to contribute to presenting a more dynamic, integrated, and strongly developing image of Vietnam to the world," Ms. Thao emphasized.
A particularly interesting and auspicious event was that on the day the HDBank delegation visited the London Stock Exchange, the FTSE 100 index rose 0.6%, reaching a new peak of 9750 points.
Strategic cooperation opens up a new future.
HDBank and LSE are discussing the possibility of establishing a cooperation mechanism in advisory services and international fundraising.
According to initial discussions, HDBank and LSE will consider establishing a cooperation mechanism in advising and raising international capital for Vietnamese businesses, including issuing securities, international bonds, and new investment products.
The visit to the London Stock Exchange took place just weeks after Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao visited the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), demonstrating the global vision and strong integration efforts of Vietnamese businesses.
The presence of the HDBank – Vietjet delegation in two of the world's leading financial centers, New York and London, once again affirms the image of a Vietnam rising strongly in the new era of development – dynamic, transparent, and ready to deeply integrate with the global financial market.
