On the afternoon of October 30, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung personally inspected the landslide recovery work and visited flood victims in Thanh Bong and Tay Tra Bong communes (Quang Ngai province). He requested the locality to mobilize maximum forces and means to soon clear the traffic route and take good care of the lives of the affected people.
At the Tra Lam - Tra Hiep route (Thanh Bong commune), where serious landslides isolated three villages with nearly 800 people, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the authorities and the transport sector to urgently take initial steps to restore traffic soon, ensure access to relief, and not let people be isolated for too long.
Sharing the difficulties that the people here are suffering, Mr. Dung gave necessities and encouraged the people of group 5, Tra Xanh village (Thanh Bong commune) to try to overcome the difficulties and soon stabilize their lives after the flood.
On the same afternoon, the Deputy Prime Minister continued to inspect Tay Tra Bong commune, where hundreds of households are temporarily staying due to landslides. At Huong Tra Kindergarten No. 1, the evacuation point for dozens of households, he visited, encouraged and asked local authorities to ensure enough food, clean water and safe accommodation for people, especially children and the elderly.
"Governments at all levels need to continue promoting the "four on-the-spot" motto: on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means, and on-site logistics, to proactively respond to the complicated weather situation and minimize damage," Mr. Dung emphasized.
Through on-site inspection, Mr. Dung assessed that the floods had caused serious damage in Quang Ngai , many traffic routes were cut off, thousands of houses were deeply flooded, and many areas of crops and people's property were damaged.
On behalf of the Government , the Deputy Prime Minister directed the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province to urgently ensure the lives of people in flooded areas, absolutely not let anyone go hungry or lack food, and at the same time speed up the repair of more than 200 landslides to soon clear traffic routes and restore production.
He also noted that the province needs to prepare crop and livestock varieties to support farmers in reproducing immediately after the flood recedes.

In the long term, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the province conduct surveys, plan and relocate people from areas at high risk of landslides, and form safe resettlement areas. "We must ensure that people have stable housing and peace of mind to work and produce after natural disasters," said Mr. Dung.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the whole province currently has more than 5,200 houses deeply flooded, some places up to 3m deep, 977 households (more than 3,600 people) have been evacuated to safety. The transport sector is the most severely damaged sector, with more than 200 landslides, an estimated volume of about 60,000m³ of earth and rock, and 2 people injured, 2 people died due to floods.
