The press joins hands to help Khanh Hoa become a centrally-governed city.

Today (October 31), Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association organized a workshop with the theme: "The role of the press in the renovation period, promoting the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province to become a centrally-run city". The workshop focused on nearly 50 presentations by scientists, journalists, and speakers inside and outside the province. Reporters of Khanh Hoa Newspaper, Radio and Television interviewed Mr. Doan Minh Long - Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association on some contents related to the workshop.

- Could you tell us the reason why the Organizing Committee of the conference chose the topic "The role of the press in the renovation period, promoting the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province to become a centrally-run city"?

- Our country is entering a new stage of development, implementing the Socio-Economic Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, which emphasizes the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country. For Khanh Hoa province, Resolution No. 09, dated January 28, 2022 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, clearly defines the goal that by 2030, Khanh Hoa will become a centrally-run city. This is both a great opportunity and an important political task of the Party Committee, government and people of Khanh Hoa province. In the development process, the press and media not only play the role of information and propaganda, but also participate in the process of creating social awareness; creating consensus, encouraging the spirit of innovation and creativity; participating in social supervision and criticism so that policies and mechanisms are increasingly closer to reality. Researching and clarifying the role of the press in the new period has profound theoretical and practical significance. Therefore, the Organizing Committee decided to choose the theme "The role of the press in the renovation period, promoting the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province to become a centrally-run city" for this conference. We hope that the conference will not only be theoretical and academic, but also closely linked to practice, and be a forum for scientists, journalists, and managers to share knowledge and experience. This is also an opportunity to propose contents of scientific and practical value to enhance the role of the press in the process of developing Khanh Hoa into a centrally-run city.

- With nearly 50 papers submitted to the conference, there will be a lot of content and ideas proposed. In your opinion, what issues should the conference focus on?

- I expect that with an open, constructive and responsible spirit, the delegates will focus on exchanging and effectively discussing the following 6 issues: First , the historical and current contributions of Khanh Hoa press in the cause of innovation and integration, especially in propagating and implementing Resolution No. 09 and specific resolutions and policies on the development of Khanh Hoa. Second , the role, social responsibility and professional ethics of the team of journalists in the current period, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party's leadership and creating social consensus. Third , solutions to develop Khanh Hoa press in a professional, modern and humane direction, associated with digital transformation and application of new technologies to improve the quality and spread of communication work in the new context. Fourth , mechanisms, policies, and solutions for Khanh Hoa press to accompany the province's socio-economic development, especially in breakthrough areas: Urban development, industry, marine economy , high-quality tourism, environmental protection, and improving the quality of human resources. Fifth , orientations for research, training, fostering, improving the qualifications, political mettle, and professional ethics for the team of journalists to meet the requirements of international integration and the cause of industrialization and modernization, especially when the country enters a new era, the era of national development. Sixth , the role of the press in propaganda work to implement the organization and operation of the two-level local government, and the implementation of the Central Resolution on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa province and the Resolution of the Politburo on private economic development; Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee on double-digit economic growth in the period 2025 - 2030; Resolution of the 1st Congress of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

- Can you share more about the role and importance of the press in the socio-economic development mission of Khanh Hoa province towards becoming a centrally-run city?

- In 2025, the Vietnamese revolutionary press will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Throughout the revolutionary process of the Party and the nation, the press has always accompanied the cause of fighting for national independence, national unification, building and defending the Fatherland. The press is not only a sharp ideological weapon but also a forum for the people. During the renovation period, the press has made important contributions to propagating the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's policies and laws; reflecting socio-economic development achievements; introducing the potential and strengths of localities, such as: marine economy, tourism, industry, urbanization; discovering and reflecting the limitations and inadequacies in the management and operation of authorities at all levels, thereby promoting reform and innovation. The press is also a bridge between Party committees, authorities and the people, contributing to strengthening social trust. These achievements affirm that Khanh Hoa press is an important part of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, contributing to promoting the comprehensive development of the province.

However, in the era of globalization and the fourth industrial revolution, the press faces many challenges, such as: strong competition from social media; multi-dimensional information, even false information; the impact of technology on journalists. These challenges require the press to strongly innovate, from thinking to working methods, to both meet the public's information needs and fulfill its political mission in the process of Khanh Hoa striving to become a centrally-run city. Therefore, for the press to speak the right voice from conscience, the responsibility of each journalist is extremely necessary. Seminars like this will contribute to journalists continuing to maintain political courage, professional ethics, social responsibility, contributing intelligence, and giving advice to the province in a more academic way.
