Quang Ngai rescues two people swept away by floodwaters

Mr. Dang Xuan Trung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tinh Commune, Quang Ngai said that local authorities coordinated with functional forces to find and save the life of Le Ba Hieu, born in 2000, residing in Phuoc Loc Tay village, Son Tinh commune, the victim who was swept away by floodwaters on the night of October 29.

Le Ba Hieu was found by the authorities in Lam Loc Nam village, Son Tinh commune, near the area where he had the accident. Earlier, at around 8:00 p.m. on October 29, Le Ba Hieu was returning from work and driving his motorbike over Cong Kien bridge. When he reached the middle of the bridge, floodwaters from upstream rose high and surged over the bridge. The strong current swept Hieu and his motorbike into the river.

Upon receiving the report from the people, that same night, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Ngai Province Police mobilized 1 specialized vehicle, 1 motorboat and 20 officers and soldiers to coordinate with the Commune Police force and local authorities to search for the victim.

In the mountainous commune of Son Ha, on the evening of October 29, the authorities and local people successfully rescued Mr. D.VT of Go Gao village who was stuck in the middle of a raging flood at night. According to the leader of the People's Committee of Son Ha commune, at about 9:10 pm on October 29, people of Go Gao village discovered Mr. D.VT clinging to a bamboo bush in the middle of a raging flood in the area of ​​Xa Trach bridge.

Immediately, the Commune Police and militia used boats and rescue ropes to approach the victim. Due to the darkness, heavy rain, and strong currents, the rescue was difficult. After more than 30 minutes of struggling with the water, at 9:45 p.m., the forces approached and brought Mr. D.VT safely to shore. Mr. D.VT was slightly injured and was taken to the Commune Health Station for a health check-up by the authorities. On the morning of October 30, the authorities found Mr. T.'s motorbike swept away by the water, lying near Xa Trach bridge.

Currently, floodwaters on major rivers in Quang Ngai are receding slowly. However, bridges and fields in many low-lying areas are still deeply flooded. Local authorities warn people not to be subjective when crossing bridges and culverts when floodwaters are flowing rapidly to ensure the safety of life and property.
