Many activities to support drivers stuck on Ho Chi Minh road

On October 30, two communes, Kham Duc (Da Nang City) and Dak Plo (Quang Ngai Province), continued to carry out many activities to support and give strength to drivers stuck on Ho Chi Minh Highway, the section passing through the two communes.

From Dak Plo commune (Quang Ngai province), the route starts through Lo Xo pass, passing through Phuoc Nang, Kham Duc and Nam Giang communes ( Da Nang city). From October 26, Lo Xo pass section through Dak Plo commune suffered a serious landslide; one day later, the Ho Chi Minh road section through Kham Duc commune also collapsed at Km1373+150, causing traffic disruption and many vehicles to be stuck.

The truck carrying agricultural products was stuck and was guided by Kham Duc commune to move it to a convenient location for sale.

In Kham Duc commune (Da Nang city), there are currently about 40 trucks, passenger cars and private cars with about 100 people stuck and temporarily staying in the area. Recently, the commune government and local units have implemented many support activities such as giving food; working with hotels to reduce prices or provide free rooms for those in difficult situations. The commune also guides drivers to park safely and directs the police force to increase patrols to ensure security and order.

Mr. Ho Cong Diem, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kham Duc Commune, said that there was a case of a patient being stuck on dialysis, the commune leaders and the medical center directly visited, encouraged and committed to being ready to provide medical support when needed. In addition, some drivers carrying agricultural products such as durian and avocado were stuck, the commune supported to bring the agricultural products to a convenient area for sale, and coordinated livestreaming to help sell the goods.

During the time of being stuck, the commune proactively grasped the thoughts and wishes of the drivers to support them as much as possible, helping them feel secure. Currently, the local government is coordinating with functional units to urgently overcome the landslide, soon clearing the route so that the drivers can return home and the patients can go to medical facilities for treatment.

In Dak Plo commune, Mr. A So Lai, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said that to help drivers stuck on the pass, recently, the locality has coordinated with Ngoc Hoi Traffic Police Station and Lo Xo Pass SOS Team to organize food supplies for drivers, and at the same time encouraged them to rest assured and wait for the authorities to clear the route.
