National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received the Indonesian and Singaporean Ambassadors who came to say goodbye.

Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment as Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs last September, the National Assembly Chairman expressed his belief that in his new position, the Ambassador will continue to be an important bridge, contributing to bringing the Vietnam - Indonesia relationship to a new height.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that the relationship with Indonesia holds an important position in Vietnam's foreign policy, on the solid foundation built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno, and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. Over the past 70 years, the friendship and cooperation have increasingly developed, comprehensively in all fields of politics, economics, trade, investment, tourism, defense, security, etc. In particular, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit to Indonesia by General Secretary To Lam and his wife in March 2025.

In the overall relationship, the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Indonesian National Assembly has achieved many good results. The two sides regularly exchange delegations at high and all levels to share experiences in the fields of legislation and supervision...

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully conveyed his regards to President Prabowo Subianto, Senate President Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani.

Ambassador Denny Abdi respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet him; emphasizing that during his term, the Ambassador received valuable assistance from Vietnam to successfully complete his duties.

Ambassador Denny Abdi said that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has developed strongly in recent times. Bilateral trade turnover reached 16.7 billion USD in 2024, double that of 2020. Many large Vietnamese corporations have been investing in Indonesia and vice versa, many Indonesian enterprises and corporations have invested in Vietnam.

Believing that there is still much room for cooperation between the two sides, the National Assembly Chairman hoped that in the coming time, the two countries will strive to bring bilateral trade turnover to 18 billion USD by 2028; believing that Vietnam and Indonesia will coordinate to implement the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in substance and achieve practical results.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Indonesian Parliament, exchange legislative and supervisory experiences, and promote joint initiatives for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

* Congratulating Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam on successfully completing his term in Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the Ambassador's positive and important contributions in promoting the strong development of Vietnam - Singapore bilateral relations in the fields of politics, economics, trade, investment, tourism, science - technology, education - training, etc. In particular, the Ambassador coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and relevant agencies to prepare well for the official visit to Singapore by General Secretary To Lam in March 2025 with the important milestone of the two countries upgrading their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Recalling the good impressions of the country and people of Singapore, the warm and respectful welcome that the Government, National Assembly and people of Singapore gave to the Chairman of the National Assembly and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly during his official visit to Singapore in December 2024, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man also thanked the Ambassador for coordinating with the agencies to make the visit a great success.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the two countries' recent signing of the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period, witnessed by the two countries' Prime Ministers within the framework of attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits in Malaysia; he believed that with this Action Program, the space and potential for cooperation between the two countries will continue to be effectively exploited.

Emphasizing the positive results in the bilateral relationship in recent times, the National Assembly Chairman said that bilateral trade turnover has always grown steadily. Singapore is a leading investor in Vietnam with the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, a symbol of successful economic cooperation. Singapore has also supported Vietnam in training and fostering senior officials in recent times. In particular, the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Singaporean National Assembly has been increasingly strengthened through meetings and contacts between the leaders of the two countries' National Assemblies, and specialized committees regularly exchange experiences; thereby actively contributing to the overall development of the bilateral relationship.

The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the two sides will promote cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, science and technology, digital transformation, green transformation, training and fostering of officials, etc.; he believes that with his good feelings about the country and people of Vietnam, no matter what position he holds, the Ambassador will continue to promote the Vietnam - Singapore relationship to a new height, more effectively and substantially.

Through the Ambassador, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent regards and best wishes to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng.

On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman thanked Singapore for providing emergency aid in necessities to support people in Vietnamese localities affected by storms and floods, and to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Thanking National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet him, Singaporean Ambassador Jaya Ratnam respectfully conveyed the greetings of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Ambassador Jaya Ratnam expressed his delight at witnessing Vietnam's remarkable development in recent times, affirming that Singapore always admires the resilience and solidarity of the Vietnamese people; and congratulated Vietnam on rising to become one of the top 30 economies in the world with outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, and an increasingly improved human development index (HDI).

Agreeing with the positive assessments of the National Assembly Chairman on the bilateral relationship in recent times, the Ambassador said that the two countries still have a lot of room for cooperation, especially in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, etc. With the success of the VSIP industrial park, the Ambassador hopes that the project will continue to be expanded, not only increasing in quantity but also ensuring quality in a greener, more digital direction, creating many new jobs for people, making practical contributions to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
