At the landslide point at Km15+900 in Ra Nhua village, Son Tay commune, a part of the mountain fell onto Provincial Road 623 with a volume of mud, soil and rock of about 10,000 m3, covering the entire road in the past 2 days. The road is still not cleared.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Nguyen Hoang Giang informed that this is a serious landslide. The entire Son Tay commune currently has about 10,000 people, the landslide is cutting off traffic between villages and the center of Son Tay commune (where 6,000 people live). After two days of the landslide, 6,000 people still have enough food, only a few small places are at risk of shortage. However, in the face of complicated landslide developments that may occur, the province has directed Son Tay commune to review and find solutions to support people, with the goal of not letting any household go hungry or thirsty due to landslides and floods.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang shared that in the past few days, Quang Ngai has had very heavy rain, the mountainous areas are full of water. The biggest difficulty now is the mountainous terrain, the continuous rain makes it difficult to overcome the problem. Currently, the whole province has about 200 landslides.

After contacting the authorities and people in the area isolated by the landslide, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directed the Party Committee, the government of Quang Ngai province, and the armed forces to urgently mobilize more vehicles to overcome the landslide, ensuring traffic on October 31. The military has a plan to move and transport food for the people, engineers support the locality to break rocks, overcome landslides and have a plan to respond to the continued landslides caused by heavy rain. The government has provided 100 billion VND in emergency support in the immediate future, Quang Ngai province needs to immediately use this fund to overcome the consequences; have plans and projects to overcome hundreds of landslides occurring in the province.

From October 25 to 29, the province experienced heavy to very heavy rain, with rainfall at some stations as follows: Tra Thanh 1,764mm, Tra Nham 1,374mm, Huong Tra 1,273mm, Son Tra 1,297mm, Tra Hiep 1,363mm... Due to heavy rain, soil humidity in the mountainous area of Quang Ngai reached over 80%, causing landslides, traffic infrastructure works, schools, medical stations, and people's houses. Flood water levels on the Tra Bong, Tra Khuc, and Song Ve rivers reached above alert level 3, also causing deep flooding in the downstream areas of Quang Ngai's major rivers, causing isolation.
The whole province has 5,201 houses of people flooded. The province has evacuated nearly 1,000 households with 3,662 people in areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods to safe places. Quang Ngai has nearly 200 locations of landslides, soil and rocks spilling onto the road surface on National Highways 14C, 24, 24B, 24C, 40B, provincial roads...
Quang Ngai province proposed the central government to support the province with funds to overcome the consequences of landslides, medicine, and health care supplies for people after floods...
