Growth drivers

On October 25, Vincom Mega Mall Royal Island (Vu Yen) opened, marking a new development in the city's trade and service sector. Vincom Mega Mall Royal Island ensures a comprehensive shopping experience with more than 100 brands, from supermarkets, furniture, utilities to cuisine and entertainment... Among them, many brands are present for the first time in Hai Phong such as the high-end supermarket model Co.opmart Pro; the convenience retail chain Mr.DIY; the Danish furniture brand - JYSK... to meet the increasing needs of the city's residents.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong (An Bien Ward) shared: “I am impressed by the spacious center, beautiful design, many big brands appearing for the first time in Hai Phong and a children's play area. Families can shop, eat and take photos in the same place without having to go far. This is truly a new meeting place for Hai Phong people.”

The opening of Vincom Mega Mall Vu Yen is considered an important boost to promote domestic consumption, while creating a chain of connections between tourism , services and modern trade, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of Hai Phong's retail market in the new period.

Along with retail infrastructure, the city has promoted trade promotion activities, product promotion and market connection. At the end of September, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (Department of Industry and Trade) opened a showroom and introduced OCOP, VietGAP, GlobalGAP products and many typical specialties of Vietnam's regions. Here, many booths display essential products with prestigious brands, including many products with OCOP certification, providing consumers with quality choices at reasonable prices, while limiting the purchase of fake and counterfeit goods.

According to Director of Hai Phong Industrial Promotion and Development Consulting Center Hoang The Nam, the floor displaying and introducing OCOP, VietGAP, GlobalGAP products and typical regional specialties of Vietnam gathers products that have been certified by the state for quality, food safety and hygiene, have brands and are trusted by consumers.

In the coming time, after completing the exhibition space, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting will coordinate with city enterprises and regional specialty production units, OCOP, VietGAP, GlobalGAP products of many provinces and cities to introduce and supply to consumers. This is expected to become an ideal destination for customers interested in high-quality, certified and verified Vietnamese products.

Promote e-commerce

Along with traditional trade, e-commerce is becoming the main growth driver of Hai Phong. Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Vu Thi Kim Phuong informed: In Hai Phong, revenue from e-commerce channels accounts for 16 - 18% of total retail sales of goods and consumer services, higher than the national average, with an average growth rate of 23 - 25%/year. The city's e-commerce index in 2025 will reach 14.5 points, far exceeding the national average of 9.3 points, helping Hai Phong rank 5th in the country.

In fact, many businesses, cooperatives, and production households in the city have proactively opened booths on major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and Tiktok Shop; and at the same time, implemented a combined "online - offline" sales model, taking advantage of the attraction of shopping malls and supermarkets to introduce and transact online. Currently, more than 85% of nearly 30,000 private enterprises and nearly 205,000 economic establishments in the area have participated in business activities in the online environment.

Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Vu Thi Kim Phuong said that in the coming time, the city will continue to accompany businesses in the process of digital transformation and digital export, through activities on training, consulting, connecting with large e-commerce platforms, while promoting technical and financial support policies suitable for the characteristics of small and medium enterprises. Thereby, gradually bringing Hai Phong's strong products from supporting industries, mechanics, electronics to handicrafts, processed agricultural products further on the global trade map.

To promote trade activities in the last months of the year, together with the whole country, the Department of Industry and Trade will launch the event "National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday 2025" from November 13 to November 17. In addition, the industry and trade sector is actively preparing for the "Red River Delta - Hai Phong Industry and Trade Fair 2025". According to the plan, the fair will take place from November 5 to 9, 2025 at the Eastern Cultural Center Square, with a scale of over 210 standard booths, gathering representatives of enterprises and production facilities from provinces and cities in the Red River Delta and many other localities across the country. This is an opportunity for enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities in the region to connect with each other, learn from experience, expand consumption markets, and seek opportunities for investment cooperation and technology transfer.

With the initiative from businesses and the support of the government, Hai Phong is looking forward to a vibrant and effective year-end shopping season. Not only helping to increase revenue for businesses, these efforts also contribute significantly to the completion of the city's socio-economic targets in 2025.
