The Department of Education and Training will organize a city-level exam to select excellent 9th grade students on March 18. The exam content will be included in the 2018 General Education Program, aiming to assess students' thinking and practical application abilities.
Essay-based exams include literature, math, natural sciences , history and geography, English, French, Chinese, Japanese (foreign languages have a listening section), and technology.
The IT subject will test computer programming with C++, Pascal and Python programming languages.
Contestants are students in grade 9 at high schools, with good or better academic and training results in the first semester, and are members of the excellent student teams of participating units.
Due to the implementation of a two-level government, there is no longer a model of district-level Department of Education and Training, so the Department of Education and Training stipulates that each ward, commune, and special zone is a participating unit.
For each participating unit with 1 to 3 secondary schools, the Department of Education and Training stipulates that the subjects of literature, math, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, and technology must have a maximum of 3 students per subject; natural science must have a maximum of 6 students; and history and geography must have a maximum of 4 students.
For exam units with 4 to 6 secondary schools, the subjects of literature, math, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, technology, maximum 5 students/exam; natural science subject, maximum 9 students; history and geography subject, maximum 6 students.
For exam units with more than 6 secondary schools, the subjects of literature, math, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, technology, maximum 8 students/exam; natural science subject, maximum 12 students; history and geography subject, maximum 8 students.
As for Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (with the remaining 9th grade), the subjects of literature, math, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese, and technology are limited to a maximum of 10 students per exam; the subject of natural science is limited to a maximum of 24 students; the subject of history and geography is limited to a maximum of 16 students.

The City-level exam for excellent 12th grade students will be held on March 4, 2026. The exam content is included in the 2018 General Education Program, with the orientation of assessing students' thinking and practical application abilities.
Essay test format for math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, economic and legal education, English, Japanese, French, Chinese (foreign languages with listening section), and technology.
Computer programming exam with computer science in programming languages C++, Pascal and Python.
The contestants are 12th graders with good or better academic and training results in the first semester, and are members of the school's excellent student team. 12th graders in the city's (official) excellent student team participating in the national exam are not allowed to participate in the contest.
Each school sends 5 students to take part in the exams in math, physics, information technology, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, economic and legal education, technology, and English. For Japanese, French, and Chinese, send a maximum of 10 students per subject.
The 9th grade excellent student exam will be held in 3 regions.

Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (235 Nguyen Van Cu, Cho Quan Ward) organizes an IT exam.
Tran Van On Secondary School (No. 161B Nguyen Van Thu, Tan Dinh Ward) organizes technology exams.

Vo Minh Duc High School (30/4 Street, Thu Dau Mot Ward).
Area 3:
