During his 65 years of life, with the desire to contribute to humanity, Karl Marx became a genius thinker, a great revolutionary, an outstanding leader of the working class, working people and oppressed peoples around the world .
Born on May 5, 1818, coming from an intellectual family in a bourgeois society, witnessing the oppression, exploitation, and injustice that the capitalist regime had created for the benefit and profit of the bourgeoisie, Karl Marx, through his scientific and practical activities, transformed his worldview from idealism to materialism, from a revolutionary democratic stance to a communist stance - standing firmly in the vanguard of those who fought for the interests of the working class and working humanity. At the age of 17, in his high school graduation thesis titled "A Young Man's Thoughts on Choosing a Career", Karl Marx wrote: "History calls those who make themselves noble by dedicating themselves to the common cause, great men; experience praises the man who brings happiness to the most people, the happiest man". Stemming from that noble goal, Karl Marx devoted his whole life to the ideal of class liberation, human liberation to build a better society - a communist society.

According to Karl Marx, to have happiness, people need freedom, and to have freedom, people need to fight against oppression and exploitation to liberate themselves. Carrying within himself a noble humanism, with compassion and concerns, worries, and sympathy for the working people, the most destitute people in society, Karl Marx believed that happiness is freedom, being the master of oneself, deciding one's own destiny, escaping from the chains of slavery and all oppression and injustice. Therefore, all his theoretical and practical activities are for the goal of seeking freedom and happiness for the proletariat class all over the world. With the slogan "Proletarians of all countries, unite!", Karl Marx and F. Engels united and united the poor people all over the world to fight for freedom and happiness, against all oppression, exploitation, injustice, to liberate the class, liberate humanity and liberate people.
According to Karl Marx, private ownership of the means of production is the cause of all human suffering, leading to a society full of oppression, exploitation and injustice. From then on, they fought tirelessly against the bourgeoisie and the private ownership regime.
Therefore, to overthrow capitalism, bring happiness to humanity, build a better society, no longer exploiting man, Karl Marx pointed out the inevitability of the historical mission of the proletariat and the victory of communism worldwide. To lead and guide the revolutionary movement of the world proletariat to final victory, Karl Marx and F. Engels founded scientific communism and fought relentlessly against all enemies of the proletariat, against the doctrine of the bourgeoisie and opportunism, revisionism in the workers' movement, against bourgeois ideological trends to liberate the class, liberate people and liberate humanity.
Karl Marx's idea that happiness is struggle is not only proven by his great life and career, but also verified by the historical reality of humanity as well as Vietnamese history.
In Vietnam, throughout thousands of years of history, the Vietnamese people have constantly struggled not only against natural disasters to survive, to have a better life; but also against enemies to protect the border, to protect national independence, territorial sovereignty , to escape from foreign domination, invasion and assimilation.
Under the light of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought and the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, with the goal of "nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", we made the great August Revolution in 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam; a Dien Bien Phu that was famous in five continents, shook the world and the 1975 Spring General Offensive completely liberated the South, unified the country, and brought the whole country to socialism.
With the same spirit, the Communist Party of Vietnam has led our people to carry out the cause of national renewal; achieved achievements of historical significance; affirmed the country's foundation, potential, position and prestige at a new height and maintained the sovereignty of Vietnam's borders and islands until today. This is the unceasing struggle of the entire Vietnamese people for independence, freedom, prosperity, happiness and a peaceful life for the people.
Entering a new phase, with many opportunities as well as difficulties and challenges intertwined, we are still making constant efforts in many fields to bring prosperity, freedom and happiness to the people. At the 13th National Congress of the Party, our Party continued to affirm that the guiding ideology of the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army is to steadfastly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought to firmly build and defend the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam. In particular, in the fields of ideology, culture and theory, we must resolutely fight against and refute hostile and erroneous viewpoints and arguments, protect the Party's ideological foundation; fight against hybrid, anti-cultural manifestations that go against national cultural values; Uncompromisingly fight against corruption, waste, degradation of political ideology, morality, lifestyle, “self-evolution”, “self-transformation” within the Party and within each cadre and Party member. In the article “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam”, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once again affirmed: “The scientific and thoroughly revolutionary nature of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought are sustainable values, which have been and are being pursued and implemented by revolutionaries. They will continue to develop and have vitality in revolutionary practice as well as in the practice of scientific development”.
The 205th anniversary of Karl Marx's birthday is an opportunity for each of us, cadres and party members, to better understand our role and responsibility in maintaining independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, bringing a prosperous, free and happy life to the people, successfully implementing the goals and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, striving to make our country a developed country with a socialist orientation by 2045.
