A closer look at Samsung's new tri-folding smartphone.

This year, Samsung continues to assert its leading position in the foldable phone field. Products like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 have made a strong impression with their slim and lightweight design and superior performance, clearly demonstrating the company's serious investment in foldable screen technology.

Currently, the company's next major step, the Galaxy Z TriFold, is attracting a lot of attention.

Samsung recently showcased its first triple-folding phone at the K-Tech Showcase event, which took place on the same day as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit on October 28th.

At the time of its launch, this phone was displayed in a protective glass case, limiting public viewing opportunities. However, thanks to a report from SBS Korea via Omokgyo Electronics Mall , the tech world finally got a close-up and detailed look at the Galaxy Z TriFold.

The detailed video shows the device boasting an impressively thin profile when unfolded, implying that Samsung is applying the same design principles that helped the Galaxy Z Fold7 achieve such a slim profile. However, due to the complex dual-hinge mechanism, the TriFold will naturally be thicker when folded.

According to the Korea Economic Daily , when unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold is "only about 4.2 mm thick," and when folded, its thickness ranges from 1.2-1.5 cm.

The device's thickness of 4.2 mm when unfolded is considered comparable to the Galaxy Z Fold7, currently Samsung's thinnest foldable phone. When folded, the ideal thickness is theoretically around 12.6 mm (three times the original thickness). However, due to the hinge mechanism and screen curvature, the actual thickness may be in the range of 13-14 mm.

If this information is accurate, the Galaxy Z TriFold will be thinner than all of Samsung's previous foldable phones, including the Fold4 (15.8 mm) and Fold3 (16 mm). In fact, the TriFold's cross-section is predicted to be comparable to the Fold5 (13.4 mm).

When folded, the backs of the Galaxy Z TriFold and Fold 7 are almost identical. Leaked images show a similar arrangement of the triple rear camera setup, along with the LED flash and side-mounted fingerprint sensor. This indicates that the new triple-folding smartphone still adheres to Samsung's signature design language.

Currently, Samsung has not officially announced any specifications or release details. However, if these close-up images are authentic, the Galaxy Z TriFold is certainly the most ambitious device Samsung has ever developed.

Many rumors suggest that this product may be released in very limited quantities, but the tech industry will need to continue monitoring further official developments.
