This year, Samsung continues to assert its leadership in the field of foldable phones. Products such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 have made a strong impression with their thin, light design and outstanding performance, clearly demonstrating the company's serious investment in foldable screen technology.
Now, the company's next big step, the Galaxy Z TriFold, is getting a lot of attention.
Samsung recently showcased its first tri-fold phone at the K-Tech Showcase event, which took place on the same day as the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit on October 28.

At the time of its launch, the phone was displayed in a protective glass case, leaving the public with only limited viewing. However, thanks to a report from SBS Korea via Omokgyo Electronics Mall , the tech world has finally gotten a close-up and detailed look at the Galaxy Z TriFold.
The detailed video shows the device being impressively thin when unfolded, which implies that Samsung is applying the same design principles that helped the Galaxy Z Fold7 achieve its impressive thinness. However, due to the complex dual-hinge mechanism, the TriFold will naturally be thicker when folded.
According to information from Korea Economic Daily , when opened, the Galaxy Z TriFold is "only about 4.2 mm thick", and when folded, the thickness ranges from 1.2-1.5 cm.

The device's unfolded thickness of 4.2 mm is considered to be on par with the Galaxy Z Fold7, currently Samsung's thinnest foldable phone. When folded, the ideal theoretical thickness is about 12.6 mm (3 times). However, due to the hinge mechanism and the curvature of the screen, the actual thickness of the device may be between 13-14 mm.
If this information is accurate, the Galaxy Z TriFold will be thinner than all of Samsung's previous foldable phones, including the Fold4 (15.8 mm) and Fold3 (16 mm). In fact, the cross-section of the TriFold is predicted to be equivalent to the Fold5 (13.4 mm).
In the folded state, the back of the Galaxy Z TriFold and Fold 7 are almost identical. Leaked images show the triple rear camera cluster is similarly arranged, with the same LED flash position and side-mounted fingerprint sensor. This shows that the new tri-fold smartphone still adheres to Samsung's signature design language.

Samsung has yet to officially announce any specs or release details, but if these close-up images are authentic, the Galaxy Z TriFold is definitely the most ambitious device Samsung has ever created.
Rumors have been swirling that the product could be released in very limited quantities, but the tech world will need to stay tuned for any further official developments.
