The workshop is an activity within the framework of cooperation between the University of Transport and Minh Duc Construction Group, and is also a specific product of the cooperation between the Center for Excellence in Training on 4.0 Technology in the field of advanced and smart transportation and infrastructure. This is also a meaningful event in the general plan of the school and the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the Ministry of Construction to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Central Committee and Resolution 71/NQ-CP of the Government on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Rector of the University of Transport and Communications affirmed that the International Conference "Suspension Bridges - From Design to Construction" is an important scientific event, the first in Vietnam to focus on suspension bridges - a type of structure that is symbolic and has strategic significance in the development of modern transport infrastructure.
Combining the strengths of three parties: State - Scientists - Enterprises in researching, decoding and mastering core scientific and technical issues to serve the development of the country's infrastructure is one of the important guiding spirits of the country, expressed through Resolutions 57/TW of the Central Committee and Resolution 71/NQ-CP of the Government on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, that valuable experience has brought success and remarkable development of Science and Technology in the Transport industry from the early years of renovation until now. It can be said that: Up to now, Vietnamese engineers have received, mastered and completely developed most of the complex, core techniques of the Transport industry. Modern works: From arch bridges, Extradose bridges, cable-stayed bridges from architectural ideas to real life not only meet the requirements of "connecting the shores of joy" but also become modern architectural highlights, becoming a symbol of a Vietnam that is striving to develop. Therefore, the organized Workshop is an important commitment of the school - the state and businesses in continuing that development journey.
Speaking at the workshop, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Nhiem - lecturer and senior expert of the University of Transport and Communications said that in the world, many suspension bridges not only serve the function of transportation but also become national symbols, a combination of modern technology, architecture and culture. In Vietnam, this type of bridge is limited to small-scale projects, mainly serving people's lives and pedestrian travel in remote areas.
"To develop the modern suspension bridge construction industry, it requires political determination from investors, local boldness, a spirit of learning from international experience, and the dedication of the design consulting team and contractors," emphasized Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Nhiem.
At the workshop, experts focused on discussing design principles, construction technology, management and maintenance solutions for suspension bridges. The open discussion sessions became a lively exchange forum, connecting researchers, engineers, businesses and students, aiming to find practical solutions to bring suspension bridge technology into practice in Vietnam.
In particular, within the framework of the Workshop, the University of Transport signed a memorandum of understanding with Minh Duc Construction Group; to promote bilateral cooperation in science and technology development, as well as strengthen the relationship between the two organizations.
