One of them is Rach Ruong Nho Bridge in Hamlet 10, Song Doc Town. Rach Ruong Nho Bridge has a load capacity of 18 tons and is currently becoming a bottleneck in the transportation of goods, directly affecting dozens of enterprises, especially fishing logistics enterprises in Hamlets 10, 11 and 12, Song Doc Town. These are enterprises that play a key role in the seafood supply chain, from processing, cold storage to transportation for domestic consumption and export. However, with the current load capacity of Rach Ruong Nho Bridge, most large trucks, especially refrigerated container trucks, cannot directly access factories and production workshops.

Rach Ruong Nho Bridge with a load capacity of 18 tons is currently a load bottleneck in the process of transporting goods for businesses.

Rach Ruong Nho Bridge with a load capacity of 18 tons is currently a load bottleneck in the process of transporting goods for businesses.

A typical example is Quoc Dat Seafood Company Limited, one of the large enterprises in Hamlet 11, which transports hundreds of tons of frozen seafood to provinces and cities every day and gathers at ports for export. Instead of moving directly by specialized vehicles, the enterprise is now forced to use small trucks to transit across the bridge, causing additional costs, prolonging the time, and especially disrupting the cold chain - a vital factor to ensure the quality of seafood products.

Mr. Vo Dinh Hao, Executive Director of Quoc Dat Seafood Company Limited, said: “Due to some mandatory conditions and requirements of export goods, if goods are transported by small trucks to the gathering point for packing into containers, the goods will not meet the required temperature standards. This is one of the major impacts on the production process and access to foreign customers. At the same time, having to transport through intermediaries will incur additional costs for businesses, thereby increasing the cost of products, making it difficult for businesses to compete on product prices.”

Not only Quoc Dat Seafood Company Limited, many other enterprises such as freezing, packaging and seafood processing facilities in Hamlets 10, 11 and 12 are also facing the same situation. Some enterprises wishing to invest in this area are also having to consider due to concerns about infrastructure.

Not only seafood processing factories are facing difficulties, but many transportation enterprises, forces responsible for connecting goods from fishing ports, and fishing logistics service enterprises in the area to large distribution centers inside and outside the province are also struggling because of this bottleneck.

“There are a lot of local goods, however, the load capacity of bridges and roads is limited, especially the load capacity at Rach Ruong Nho Bridge, Hamlet 10, Song Doc Town. Large trucks cannot enter, and have to transfer goods, so transportation costs must increase, making it difficult for carriers to compete on transportation costs. In addition, seafood purchasing and processing enterprises in the area must calculate the price of products when they have to bear additional transportation costs, so it is very difficult to compete with enterprises in other localities," said Mr. Quoc Khanh, owner of a transportation business in Song Doc.

The bottleneck at Rach Ruong Nho Bridge, if not promptly resolved, will be a major obstacle to local economic growth. Upgrading the bridge with a larger load capacity will not only help businesses save costs and preserve the quality of goods, but also open up opportunities to attract investment, create more jobs and increase local budget revenue.

Mr. Do Van Su, Chairman of Song Doc Town People's Committee, said: "Recently, the town has received attention from superiors for synchronous investment in traffic infrastructure. However, the current Rach Ruong Nho bridge causes difficulties for local businesses in transporting goods to connect with the routes on the southern bank of the town. We hope that superiors will soon have a plan to upgrade the load capacity of Rach Ruong Nho bridge, to remove difficulties for businesses in the circulation and transportation of goods"./.
