Can Tho announces ban on trading of 3 essential oil products

On June 10, the Can Tho City Department of Health announced that it had issued a document on handling counterfeit drugs, including Su Tong massage oil, Chanh Dai rheumatism oil, and Chanh Dai anti-rheumatism oil produced by Chanh Dai traditional medicine production facility.

Can Tho City Department of Health requires that establishments that trade and use medicine in the area are not allowed to trade, sell or use the following products: Su Tong massage oil (registration number V367-H12-10), Chanh Dai rheumatism oil (registration number V1624-H12-10) and Chanh Dai anti-rheumatism oil (registration number V131-H12-10) produced by Chanh Dai traditional medicine manufacturing facility.

Can Tho City Department of Health assigned the Center for Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing to increase sampling and quality testing of drugs circulating in the area for drugs at risk of being counterfeited or of poor quality.

According to the Department of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Management, based on the provisions of Clause 33, Article 2 of the Law on Pharmacy, the three types of drugs mentioned above produced by the Chanh Dai traditional medicine manufacturing facility are counterfeit drugs.

Also according to the Can Tho City Department of Health, recently, the Department of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Management ( Ministry of Health ) conducted an inspection of compliance with legal regulations in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, and made a record of the meeting at Phung Hung traditional medicine store (address 492 Tran Hung Dao, Ward 14, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City).

The task force discovered 3 drugs: Su Tong massage oil, Chanh Dai rheumatism oil, Chanh Dai anti-rheumatism oil produced by Chanh Dai traditional medicine production facility (address at 295 Nguyen Trai, Ward 7, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City), which have not been granted a certificate of eligibility for pharmaceutical business by the Ministry of Health and have not been granted a certificate of good manufacturing practice (GMP) for the production of medicinal herbs and traditional medicines.

According to the Department of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Management, based on the provisions of Clause 33, Article 2 of the Law on Pharmacy, the three types of drugs mentioned above produced by the Chanh Dai traditional medicine manufacturing facility are counterfeit drugs.
